Comment:

GO to class and see him in his office. He's always available. The lectures are hard to follow and he's partially deaf as well as confused easily. My mark increased dramatically when I seen him in his office. Show him you are interested(even if you're not) and you'll do fine. He's fair. He's grown on me, he's a nice man.

Comment:

He is a bit unorganized but he is very nice and helpful. I found this course to be pretty easy, I have an 80% and I haven't had to work hard at all, but I also enjoy grammar. The book is also really helpful if you don't understand what he is talking about. I personally really liked this course and this prof!

Personally I did not like this prof. He is very disorganized and seems very confused when teaching the material. He constantly forgets where he is in a lecture. I do not recommend him!

Very unorganized with his lectures and examples. I found him very difficult to follow as he jumped from topic to topic with little or no transition. I would not recommend him to other students.

Very disorganized prof, but if you show any kind of interest the course then you'll be fine. He's an easy marker (within reason) and he almost tells you what the essay/exam questions will be so they are easy to prepare for. The material is interesting and no poetry! Recommended.

This professor is probably the worse prof in my four years at MUN. He constantly looses track of where he is while lecturing. He when asked a question he usually talks around it like a politician. He should be avoided at all cost, there are other professors for 2390 be sure to take the course with them!

There are 2-3 other profs who teach english 2390, choose any of them over hollett. His lectures are incredibly disjointed; never refers to the text book -except to highlight anomalies (which never show up on his tests) - and frequently makes mistakes. if you take his class, stick to the text and the exercises, you'll basically be teaching yourself.

he seems to be confused and his notes are disorganized, but if you write down everything he says, then you will do fine! Don't read your textbook because it will only confuse you, his tests are really fair and the final was easy! I always hated English and dreaded taking this course, but at the end I came out loving English 2390 and loved Hollett!

Not a good professor in Fall 2008. Confuses material. Unorganized notes. Tests are based on irrelevant material. Can not answer questions. Class notes differ from text book. When I read RMP it made me want to take the course from this man. Now, after taking it with him...WOW! No way. I want my money back.

He is a really kind prof who seems to care about how the students do. The tests are fair, and he grades them fairly. He makes sure that you know where you went wrong so you can change it for next time. He is slightly confusing at times, but everything he says is relevant in some way. I would recommend him to anyone.

I love this guy! Really nice and wants to help- BUT he can be confusing. Honestly though, his tests are Really fair, the best I've seen, and he'll go over them with you. The course isn't hard, just buy the textbook and read that, and you'll do fine! It may be boring, but at least he isn't a hard grader!

Yes his notes are disorganized but it all comes together in the end. He shows great interest in how his students are doing. I was afraid to do this course but he made me want to do well so I think that says more than anything. He's more then willing to stay behind and help you after class. Such a good prof. take him if you can.

I was very afraid of doing this course before I started it but now I love it thanks to Prof. Hollett. He explains everything clearly and makes sure everyone understands before he moves on. He cares about how the students do in the class and tries to help everyone do well. I'd highly recomend him for 2390 and I'm taking 3650 with him next term.

i really can't understand how anyone would call Dr Hollett arrogant. He's a little disorganized, but he's the deparment head, give him a break! I did very well in his class and found him helpful even though he was a little confusing at times.
