Comment:

One of my favorite professors at JMU and hands down the most intelligent. He was my FMIR in London and his class was brilliant. I hope I can take a class with him back at JMU just so I can listen to his lectures. If you are easily bored, then don't take him, but if you like learning about more than just the text, take him!

Hoskin's isn't a bad professor, but I didn't find him terribly helpful in developing writing or analysis skills. His lectures, though informative, are dry. Oftentimes, he interrupts students when they're attempting to develop their own analysis and goes on a rant. Most of his class is rote memorization more than analysis.

Hoskins is the sweetest man ever, the kind you'd want to have as your grandpa. He is so passionate and knows a lot about what he's teaching, even if his lectures can be dry. There is a lot of reading but I thought it was mostly new and interesting. A fair grader and helpful.

This man not only was a great teacher, but he was very involved in my academic life as an advisor and helped me stay in school, find a passion and gave me the guidance I so desperately needed. His classes were a bit boring from time to time, but he's patient, intelligent, helpful and easy if you read the material and go to class. Film class rocke

It really helps when your professor explains his passion for teaching the first day of class like Hoskins. Very enjoyable class and professor that has his moments of clumsiness but loves what he teaches and does it well. In this class you watch great movies, write two papers, take a few quizzes and two essay tests. Great teacher, good class.

This guy is so boring, and the readings are awful. essays aren't too bad, but the quizzes suck. He leaves the room doring the quizzes so cover your paper or some dumb jock might look at it. Some kids write there essays before class... Honor Code anyone!!!
