Took Dr. Karlin last fall and absolutely loved it. easy connect homework, but no need for textbook. Exams are essays, he gives you specific topics to focus on. Everything you need for the exam is in the powerpoints or said in class. VERY interesting. He goes off on tangents but those too are very interesting and helpful in understanding topics

Professor often goes on long, personal tangents during lectures that he tests you on for some reason. Tests are essays. He'll help you outside of class though. Very blunt and tough grader. Offers extra credit. Tests are heavily based on textbook. Info was interesting (advanced version of gen pysch), so would suggest the class, but not the professor

Dr. Karlin was an awesome professor this semester. He does get off on a tangent quite often, but almost everything he says is relevant and relates to the material. Tests were easy, but some questions came from what he says in lecture. Very clear on what you need to know for the exams. Extra credit is offered.

Karlin is actually a great professor in my opinion. The class is very heavily based on lectures, and exams tend to have questions that his opinions can be used for. He is an interesting character and is straightforward with the class on his life and opinions. Reading the text is necessary as well.

He may not read word for word off slides, but I feel that I have gotten more out of him as a single professor than I have gotten from the entirety of the psychology department combined. He is brilliant. Go to class, read the book, study. You will actually learn something from this man.

A lot of times he would not use power points and talk at you for 45 minutes. Uses lots of films. Very smart professor, uses several personal anecdotes. Gives extra credit for article and book reviews. Exam questions are from his word of mouth so you should go to lectures.

Half the time I had no idea what he was talking about. He's really all over the place with his lectures. However, he's extremely smart and had some interesting stories to share. Tests are very difficult but he does offer extra credit and gives a generous curve.

I really liked Karlin. Class is mandatory since you need to turn in homework. Admittedly, his lectures are not always very helpful, but the book (which he wrote), is. Read the chapters, do the homework, go to class. Quantitative portion of the exam is open book. As long as you put in the effort required, I don't understand how you can do poorly.

Not a bad professor. His exams are based on a lot that he says in class so going to lectures is important. If you don't do so well on the exams he gives a nice curve. It's pretty hard to flunk the class. Aplia online tests, extra credit opportunities and grade curves ensure that you get a good grade in his class.

Karlin was the best! I was skeptical to taking him because of the ratings on here but you guys suck. I'm a transfer student from a community college, I got an A in his class. Was it hard? no. Go to class and listen to what he says. Aplia's are easy 100s and he curves the heck out of the exams. He's so funny too! i'm going to miss him!

This was a VERY challenging class. Prof Karlin, while obviously brilliant, tends to ramble on during lectures and goes off on tangents. His style is for the students to read the chapter, do the homework, and then he goes over it during the next lecture. I highly suggest attending recitations and develop a good relationship with the TA.

quantitative methods of psychology. Overall the class is easy however he is just not a good teacher. He is all over the place during lectures. It is sometimes really hard to follow, and always very boring. Some kind of prior stat course would be highly advised so you have some idea of what he's lecturing on.

Easy class for being 300 level. He is a very smart guy but extremely disorganized. I was disappointed in that I did not learn as much as I wanted to. But the tests are not hard and he offers extra credit. Go to class b/c he tests you on his opinions (which is stupid in my opinion). Generous curve.

One of the best, caring professors I had. Excellent for upper level stats. Provides you with statistical and research knowledge that is very crucial to the field. Also teaches you how to distinguish good study designs from bad ones. Need more professors like him who are willing to teach upper level statistics. Very personable.

He talks A LOT during lecture and doesn't really explain in good detail. Confusing to understand, however if you read the book and study for the tests you should be fine. Also, go to recitation because it is much more helpful than lecture.

The text is YOUR BEST FRIEND here. Took a Stat for Busi. course at a better uni. and to be fair, stat is hard to teach to such a huge class. But he wrote the book so he clearly knows how to instruct. Difficult online exams, easy HW, moderate midterm/final. Gets progressively harder, but make sure you understand everything. Don't wait until the end!

Pretty confusing of a Professor in that his lectures are all over the place, he mostly tells stories about his past patients which are interesting but you can never be sure if what he's saying is something that will be on the exam or not. Grades on a curve. You watch quite a few movies in class, be sure to go for that reason.

Questions on exams quite vague and sometimes even two correct answers (still have to choose the more correct one) but overall easy class, just read the textbook and attend lectures.

Worst professor I've ever had. Refuses to meet with students, one TA who was too busy to meet before the final. Exams based 70% lecture in which he blabs on about personal experience. Questions are about his opinions ex: war on drugs is stupid. SO boring and tests are on tiniest detail.
