He is one of the best philosophy professors that Seton Hall has. He knows his material and is always open to feedback and office hours. His grading is not too tough, and it is definitely possible to get a well deserved A in the course. He class lectures are interesting and he is super funny.

Best philosophy professor I have taken at SHU. He's funny and understanding. He'll accept late work, though a few points will be taken off. He makes lots of side jokes and references, is clear on what he is looking for, and what he expects. Just don't miss his class. He makes ancient philosophy as fun as it can be anyways

Mayhew is one of the best & funniest profs I've had at Seton Hall. His courses will usually consists of just 3 exams/papers. For ancient philosophy it was 1 paper and 2 exams. People may complain about how he grades exams, but honestly just include important key terms. That's all he looks for, not length. Attendance is a must, participation is not

He takes attendance before every class and will hold them against you in your final grade. Only 3 tests make up your grade which have 9 or 10 questions on them each. He grades the tests word for word, so if you don't say what he wants you'll loss points. His lectures are long and boring and hand writing is required, computers are not allowed.

Took him 1000 level course and you only earn your grade by 3 tests you receive in the class. He is so nitpicky with all of them, if you write too much he grades you harshly, if you don't write enough he grades you harshly. A student in my class asked him how much would be good to write, in his words "Idk, just be perfect". NOT CLEAR and NOT EASY

Professor Mayhew is a pretty great professor. He has a whole novel of pet-peeves but he makes the lectures pretty interesting and fun, is a fair grader and is willing to help anyone. His class was not hard, 4 really short papers and 2 tests. DO NOT GO OVER THE WORD LIMIT ON PAPERS My only problem was that during a test he would not answer questions

Just show up to his classes and take lots of notes. He tells you exactly what will be on the exams. But don't take the way that he grades the papers for granted.. make sure on the exams you are really clear on your answer or he'll take points off. He was really interesting, funny, and knows his stuff

He's a fun prof but the material is really difficult. Thankfully the readings are very short, but difficult language and concepts. It's easy to pass this class but very hard to get above a B. If you're okay with that, minimal effort will get you by, and his teaching style will entertain you. If you're not, then you will have to work very hard.

This was a great class. Good for an easy A. just show up to each class and do all the papers. There is only two exams the final and the midterm for each he gives you the questions and the answers before the exam so if you just study those you are to get an A. Class is very boring but he is a nice guy

He;s a fun prof. Makes a lot of jokes, lets you out early sometimes. The readings are interesting, enjoyable lectures, and the workload is pretty light. Overall great prof, but kind of a tough grader when it comes to exams. just keep up with the readings and pay attention in class and you'll be fine.
