Comment:

I took 3250, 3253, and 3251 with him last year. By far the hardest courses offered at LU that I've taken. There's a learning curve to what he's looking for, you need to be able to draw diagrams and give a good description as well. His term tests are only 2-3 qs long, but the course material all ties together, so the qs are somewhat predictable.

Dr. O teaches interesting material and for the most part I think he knows what he's talking about, but a lot of the time I feel like hes just looking at the diagrams and piecing together the obvious. The material is not difficult to learn and understand, however there is ALOT of material to know. Know everything and write FAST.

I took this physiology III class as an extra elective. I absolutely LOVE physiologydo a LOT of self directed learning re it. Unfortunately he has ZERO clue how to teach and his exams and midterms are brutally impossible unless you learn EXACTLY the way he teaches. Regurgitating diagrams on a test is just bad. Can't take any phys at LU now :(

Dr. O is certainly knowledgeable on the various courses he teaches. With that said, his courses will completely ruin your GPA. His tests are basically based upon how fast you can write, rather than your knowledge of the topic. It's really a shame that the courses he teaches are the most interesting Biology courses.

One of the best profs I've had at LU hands down Tests are fair, let you show your actual understanding ( a booklet is enough) Lectures are laid out quite logically, building upon themselves until you're back at the first slide of the first class and everything makes sense; very visually based Willing to go slow, repeat things, talk after class

He is one of the best Profs that lakehead has to offer. Even though he is very hard and his teaching style is a bit different than just plainly reading off lecture slides like the rest of the profs, he challenges you to really learn the information present. I also recommend you take this class because you can take neurobio and neurochem next year!

I really enjoyed the class. Got 87%. I asked Dr. O. questions after class numerous times and found he was always willing to talk and answer questions. Found him to be very friendly. Only weird thing was he would mention that he finds the material boring while lecturing.. maybe because it was nursing phys? lol. His exams are tough though

I took 7 courses with Dr. O, 5 in my last year. If you are prepared to work hard you will NOT have a problem. In his fourth year level courses you will never work harder, but you'll never have better marks. Get to know him and things will be ok. He really does care about his upper year students, as there are only about 12 in each class!

this prof is rude, ignorant and has threatened the class with physical violence should he catch anyone cheating. this class is beyond boring in fact, eating a sleeve of saltines would not be as dry as this class. Skip all lectures, read and study past exams and suplement with the text book use the class time to study because he will only confuse!!!

I worked with him in the army. Bring a pillow. Your pillow will need a pillow. Instant amnesia walking into this class. I swear he breathes sleeping gas. BORING! But I learned there are 137 tiles on the ceiling. Not only is the book a better teacher, it also has a better personality. Invites questions and then insults you for 20 minutes.
