This class was one of the hardest class I took. He's funny, gives good feedback, and you'll learn a lot from his class. If you're not skilled in English or not majoring in English, I suggest you don't take this class. You'll only get an A if you work hard for it.

Professor Reichle is great! He makes you work for your grade and as someone who is not necessarily that great at english, he is pretty great at teaching and giving feedback. He also is very understanding if you need to turn something in late once or twice aka, no penalty.

Pretty straight forward class, no text book use, a few really great lectures. Most assignments outside of discussions are essays which he does grade a bit harshly. I have a feeling the first essay grade was almost a scare tactic; however, if you follow his instruction and include a good amount of detail theres no reason not to get an A!

I took his class for winter semester. His class was not really easy but makes you to work hard. You actually learn stuffs from his lectures and homework. He's sarcastic, but in a good way. lolz He answers your question on time and gives you a feedback. THat was what I liked about him.

Great teacher, just don't miss class or slack off. No exams, just essays so expect to write essays. I learned a lot from him, he teaches you how to analyze essays and short readings, which will help you become a great writer! Definitely would take his class again.

I took his online course. It was pretty straight forward. Class discussions, tons of reading and posting your thoughts on a class thread. He assigned a fair amount of essays, but nothing too overwhelming. I learned a ton about writing real essays vs. writing high school opinion papers. Great class, great instructor. I would definitely recommend

At first, I thought I would enjoy this class but once I got my first essay back, GET READY FOR BIG TIME CRITICISM. I felt like I was being attacked at how bad my work was instead of getting help. I only enjoy the discussions but the rest, NOPE. Don't take this class unless you're really into english.

Amazing professor. I felt really inspired and motivated. He's, by no means, 'easy' but if you want a class that will make you dig deep, work hard and actually learn something this is it.

I took English 1 online. It was a lot of work, you definitely have to think for yourself and put the work in. You can't fall behind. Professor Reiche was very helpful, his assignment were interesting and thought provoking. I would recommend this class and professor to everyone.

I thought this class was great and he is really good at getting you to think outside of the box. It is only eight weeks so it is not easy and there is a good amount of work. He lays out the class, exactly what he expects and as long as you do the work and communicate you should do great. He is really mellow and down to earth.

really enjoyed going to his class, very funny and attendance is not mandatory. i never received any type of grade back, therefore i did not know what i would receive at the end of the year. he seemed to like me as a student so i thought i would end up with an A but was surprised with a B.

I took an online class. Not clear on instructions. Small mistakes cause a full grade drop. Used a syllabus from a different class. Dose not answer questions well. Grading system is confusing. Worst online class ever, didn't learn much. Do not expect much from this class.

He seemed like a good teacher, he is not. He tells you nothing about what he is looking for and while you think you are consistent, you are not. He gave me a B and to be honest I have no idea where it came from. It is a hard class and you will learn to write better, not because he teaches you, but because you have no idea on how he grades.

Professor Reichle's Adv. Comp. Class is just that: Advanced Composition. It's definitely not easy but it is intriguing. He is down to earth and a fair grader as long as you follow the guidelines of the course. I would recommend as long as you are dedicated and willing to work hard to earn your grade. If you're looking for an easy "A" don't take it.

He is a good professor, really knows his stuff. He will challenge you and make you laugh. He doesn't have a required page count, so work should be BS and fluff free and straight to the point. Material was thought provoking, discussions were easy, and he gives lots of helpful feedback. I'd recommend him, and there's no text book! (online class)

I took online class in fall 2010. The professor is very nice and professional, but it seems that he expects too much from his students. For community college students, the subject is not easy. I hope the class would be little bit easier so that students can approach to the literature much closer without fear. Overall, great class.

I took Engl 1 online in Fall 2008, and it was a TON of work. Difficult papers, weird material, incomprehensible on instructions. Talked to him on the phone, he came across as quite full of himself. Literally said a B from him means as much as an A from everyone else. Got an A anyway, but worked my butt off. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Great educator. He wants you to learn how to write and not the way you learned in school. He actually wants you to use your brain and THINK critically and deeply about things. I guess all the haters just don't have the intelligence or the fortitude.

"Do as I say not as I do" is his mantra. I didn't learn anything new in his class. Obscene personal disorganization bordering on incompetence. Learned absolutely nothing about composition. There are many wonderful, intelligent, challenging English professors at SMC that I have learned from, he's not one of them.
