If you're a Freshman coming into the Core Curriculum do yourself a favor and take his class because you will love it. He loves to go on tangents of course, but I learned a lot and my writing improved dramatically. He doesn't regurgitate what came up in the lectures and the jokes are first class. Expect one presentation a semester.

Amazing professor! Honestly one of the best I've had at BU. Very intelligent, witty, engaging, and funny. Has a genuine interest in a student's knowledge and understanding of any given text. You won't regret taking him.

He is great. He's inspiring and definitely passionate about literature and philosophy, you can tell by the quotes he makes during class! It's always a pleasure to walk in class for a lesson with him. He's got a great sense of humor and it's not hard to get an A on the essays if you listen carefully to what he wants you to write about.

HE is so awesome! I am really sorry I waited until my last semester at BU to take him. Such a wonderful and feel good class. He is so funny! Also, this professor speaks the best Russian I have ever heard spoken by an American. He has no accent! They certainly don't produce professors like this anymore, even at the Ivy League!

I'm no fan of humanities, but Richardson was able to keep the class interesting and was a relatively easy grader. Richardson likes to make a lot of jokes, and can gets off topic frequently.

Best professor I had at BU. Class is interesting and funny. He usually gets off point and rarely follows the syllabus. However, he is informative, likes new opinions and easy going. Basically a wiseguy!! Do the readings, speak in class and you'll get an A.

I'm not the biggest fan of core humanities, but having Richardson made it completely worth it. He is a great professor and absolutely hilarious! While he gets off topic and ends up talking about the most random and entertaining things, his office hours are very helpful. His class gives a gist of the readings without obsessing about symbolism :)

Amazing professor!!! All the other professors in Core are a lot more demanding and there's a much bigger workload, but with Richardson all of the work was managable and he was a fair grader. Also, he was always extremely approachable and helpful outside of class. I signed up for another one of his classes since he's my favorite teacher here at BU!

The best teacher at BU. He's interesting and an easy grader. And you actually learn a lot with little stress. After the MFA tour, he took us out to Legal Seafoods and paid for it! He's always there to help you and is ridiculously nice and friendly. His anecdotes and ramblings are the best. Beautifully cynical. LOVE THIS MAN! Take him if in core!

Prof. Richardson is hilarious and encourages student participation. He grades easy. He also loves to go off on really long tangents which are great when you really don't want to hear about Plato anymore.

turned out to be my favorite professor for the year...insightful, funny, fair and extremely smart. He infuses what could be boring seminars with jokes and personal stories to lighten things up and have fun. Altough his paper topics are at times a bit difficult the grading is more than fair. His writing and speaking style is hilarious

Richardson is an open-minded and funny (in an antiquated way) professor, who I'm sure would go by "Bob" with his peers. Discussions are free and led by students' responses. Although an easy grader, the essays are cumbersome, and you might need some traditional off-the-board-highschool-style notes from other discussions for the midterm/final exams.
