Wallace is the best teacher I've had at Iowa State by far, I loved him so much I also took Bio 357X in the fall. His lectures are fun and easy to follow along you learn about things that are actually interesting and easy to connect with. As long as you go to class and study before the exam you should get an A. The papers really aren't that bad!

Professor Wallace is one of the most diversely read and well informed professors I have ever had, and his lectures are fun to attend. He is very involved at the university, and cares so much about his work, his students, and his school. Take his classes you won't regret it!

Dr. Wallace seems like a great guy with a genuine love for what he does. My biggest gripe is that he is quite vague about what exactly will be on his exams and during the review sessions would tell us to for sure know certain things that would end up not being on the exam at all. Thankfully he is a pretty lenient grader. Start on your paper early.

Obviously great teacher. Never seen a traditional lecture done this well, very entertaining. Class concepts are pretty easy, the only real investment is your term paper (which counts more toward your grade than any test, so start early!)

He is a really awesome guy. Very into evolution/plant biology. The only complaint is that he doesn't use technology! His class is stuck in the 90s. If he updated things to make it easier for students, and for him, the class would be better.

Awesome professor. Very into what he teaches. Keeps class interesting. I actually enjoyed going to class, even tho it wasn't required. You do have to write a research paper, but he gives you all semester and grades it easy.

Wallace is must easier than other Bio 315 professor! He really cares about what he is teaching. You have to attend class for notes because he does not use powerpoints or the textbook. Tests were fair but they did require you to know material and write a lot. He is a very fair grader and lenient. I liked him a lot.

I think his personality is why people like him. I think he's a nice guy but a terrible professor. All you really have to work with are your notes; taking notes in his class can be difficult if you are tired. Dude needs to use powerpoint and blackboard. I think ISU needs to open a section of BIOL 315 without him as the professor.

Dr. Wallace doesn't have ppts so it forces you to come to class and actually listen. You learn more that way. His tests are fair except they are all writing so they take the whole time to finish. There is a term paper due at the end which is the most challenging part of the class. Overall Wallace is a very good professor and super smart!

Take good notes because that is all you will have to study from for exams. He doesn't use blackboard and doesn't really follow or require a textbook. His tests are long and hard. Overall, great guy and mediocre professor.

Great professor who really makes lectures fun. If you do well in his courses he usually makes the final optional. I had an A but kept going to the last 2 weeks of class. This professor definitely had my respect. Funny and intelligent he makes you interested in the material.

Possibly the best prof I've had. He's hilarious and makes the topic interesting- there is actually class interaction during lecture! It is essential that you attend lecture, but as long as you take good notes, you'll be fine.

I actually learned a lot about where different materials come from and how their manufactured. Quite interesting! He's also a very nice guy; doesn't check his email much though so you gotta call him or catch him after class. Also, he remembers your name after a semester! Don't see that too often!

Good professor, has a lot of energy, and is a really fair grader. He grades on what you know and always gives partial credit if your answers are coherent. The term paper is the hardest part of the class but even that isn't so bad. Don't have to take the final if you are getting a good grade so that is a plus.

I felt this professor didn't respected me. He never answered my e-mails and I felt he looked down at me. His tests are fairly hard, but he is a fair grader. There is no textbook and he hardly writes on the board, so unless you can learn just by listening to a lecture this professor is not for you. I did get an A, but he made evolution boring.
