Comment:

Attend EVERY lecture because all the notes & information you'll need is given there. Lecture is SUPER HEAVY & he goes fast. Provides no guide or extra resources for studying. Random attendance pop quizzes. Has own method of madness for grading. Your textbook will be your friend. Nice guy, very knowledgeable & answers questions decently. Good luck!

How are you graded in this class? Good question! I think Yost just pulls it from the lucky numbers on a fortune cookie and clumps two numbers together to make your grade. Besides that he uses a copyrighted PowerPoint to teach the class. He literally reads the PowerPoint pretty much and has random attendance quizzes to reward students who show.

Comment:

Robby is not a very good teacher, although he is very knowledgeable on the topics he goes over. During lectures he goes through slides very fast and it is hard to stay focused when you are still trying to write down what was said on something that was 2 slides ago.

Yost is the worst professor I've ever had to deal with. He doesn't answer questions, doesn't check emails, and won't grade you fairly. He refuses to post his power-points on canvas. And he lectures incredibly fast in class, making the rest of his students struggle while taking notes. He's very egotistical, unreasonable, and unprofessional.

Although attendance isnt required you wont pass if you dont go. He shows a slide once and wont show it again and almost everyone I talk to has a C or lower. Be ready to write/type for 75 minutes straight as well. The test also dont get any better so if youre taking one of his classes in general good luck.

You have to attend Yost's lectures, or else you WILL fail the class. Recitation is easy, but lab is dependent on the TA. His outlines are very comprehensive and he goes fast in lecture so prepare to write/type for the whole 75 minutes. Recording lectures is beneficial because you will miss things, recitation PSAs are pretty easy, just long/tedious

Oh come on you guys here are so extra. Just listen to his lectures and study the lab carefully, you'll get an A/B easily :) I'm just kidding. This is the most painful class I've ever taken. Almost everyone fails the class. His exams are the reasons that cause depression for students. Good luck!

Yost doesn't try to make his lectures entertaining to make up for boring slides of animal facts. He is all business and no fun. He doesn't post notes online or let you take pictures of them even. So while attendance isn't mandatory, it is to get all the info. His exams can be difficult because they're all fill in the blank of vague facts.

Talks fast so I recommend recording lectures. I used the outlines he provided to take notes from the slides during lecture, then I went back and listened to the recordings. Everything you need to study for the exams comes from the lectures and outlines. Don't wait till the last minute to study. Go to recitation for easy points to boost your grade.

His lectures are super fast, and I recommend typing instead of writing everything out! It will save you time. If you show him that you are trying and want a good grade, he will give it you. Huge curve in this class and he does care about his students (is a little scary at first tho). Get all your lab and recitation points and you'll be fine.

Dr. Yost's K103 class is the one your high school teachers warned you about. Yost is by no means a bad professor, but his exams are designed to be extremely difficult and there is so much material. He grades on a bell curve which helps, but you rarely can predict your grade. Lab is standard and recitation can hurt your grade if your TA sucks.

Crazy lecture like others said. Listen to his examples and stories, use outlines for notes. Do PSAs in recitation, go to BRC, don't wait last minute to study. ALOT of memorization. Lab is just like anatomy, also memorization. Most difficult 100 level you'll take, but still very possible to get an A. Curves on tests and a final curve at the end.

Extremely unprofessional. Grades with a curve that isn't really a curve, he just puts you where he thinks you should be. He messed up mine and a few classmates final grades, giving us F's when we really should have gotten different grades. Worst professor I have ever had to deal with.

Lecture is 75 minutes of reciting facts about animals or a nature video. After four or five classes of this, there is a test that is about 50 fill-in-the-blank questions long, that pulls from the 900 random facts you learned (Good luck, hope you have a killer memory). Don't dare ask a question or you will be berated in front of your classmates.

Dr. Yost is a horrible professor with little respect for his students. He is very rude when asked questions and will often ignore the question all together. He is very disrespectful most of the time. He speaks at a pace in which you will not be able to write down all that he says. His tests are insane and a 50% can get you a B or A based on a curve

- Nobody has any idea how the grades in this class work. He literally might pull your grade out of a hat, who knows? - Teacher is unapproachable (no office hours!) and rude in class to students who ask questions - Tests are insane If you want to do well in this class, go to the BRC, make lots of flashcards, read the textbook, and hope you get lucky

You're literally gambling your grades in this class. Whether he curves or not depends on how low the total average is, and if your grade if beyond average. Getting a 64% on an exam can get you a B and getting a 64% in the final exam can get you an A, but a B average which depends upon how you do in lab and recitation. Lab is harder than lecture

Don't take this class if you don't want to take notes for the ful hour and fifteen minutes of class, every class. If you don't show up for the notes, you won't pass the tests. Tests are 95% fill in the blank, and anything from several lectures can be on them. I spent 9 hours studying for each exam, and ended up with an A in the class, but beware!

Class is very boring but you have to pay attention to get all the notes. He allows audio recording but no video recording. He doesn't post his power points so all notes must be taken during class. He's very fast paced.
