Professor Rubenstein is a great literature professor. She hardly gives lectures as the class is primarily discussion based. You need to participate if you want a good grade in the class. Very interesting readings. She also provided good feedback on papers and gave creative writing options in addition to analytical ones for writing assignments.

Roberta Rubenstein is the most open minded professors I've ever had. I signed up for this class as a Political Science major terrified of literature, and ended up loving it. She rarely gives lectures, and her longest of the year was 20 minutes. Class is based on discussion of themes found in the book. There is no set agenda. You must work to suceed

Prof Rubenstein is certainly in the top 3 professors I have ever had. She is deeply intelligent, knowledgeable, and facilitates truly interesting discussion in class. Only take her if you are interested in working hard (class is very reading heavy) and learning a lot. If you like literature she will open up a whole new side of it for you.

She is the sweetest woman you will ever meet! She gives great feedback on papers, although she is a tough grader. I took this course for minor requirement and got a lot out of it. It's a great fundamental writing class, and I would recommend RR to anyone! She's a little hard of hearing, but besides that i LOVED her.

She is the greatest professor I have ever had. She was always there to help if you had problems. She gave us interesting paper assignments and allowed us to be creative. The discussions in class were amazing, she really lets the students take part in the learning process. She is the sweetest lady and really funny. I would definitely recommend her.

She's AMAZING. She gives great comments on papers, and it so nice and helpful if you visit during office hours. When people asked a question she didn't know the answer to during class, she would look it up for them and bring very detailed information to the next class. If you like lit and want to learn, PLEASE take her class!!

Really nice woman but isn't the best teacher. Assignments become confusing when she tries to overclarify. Assignments are lame.

This is a wonderful, but difficult, class. You really have to work hard, do the reading and be able to write well to get a decent grade with Rubenstein. She is an awesome professor though, and I highly recommend this class!

I love this professor. She was really helpful and tried really hard to make people enjoy the class and make the discussions helpful and interesting. The books were all very good and only a couple of the short stories were really unbearable. She was such a sweetheart she even had our class to her house for dinner. Definitely take her if you like lit

Very hard for a gen ed and she's an awful professor. Grading was random, it was impossible to do well unless you were one of her favorites. Books and assignments contributed nothing to the class.

It was like being in Oprah's book club. I was told how great she was, so maybe I had high expectations. She was just ok.

Grades really hard, but the books were pretty interesting and she tries to keep her classes interesting. A BIG stickler for punctuality. If you're going to be late, you're better off not going at all and going to her office hours with an excuse later in the day...

Yes she is challenging, but her classes are AMAZING! She is so great, always provokes good discussions, and helps you as much as she can. I never took her for a gen ed, but for electives, she is just amazing. My whole class cried at the end of semester :)

Very hard for a gen ed. One must work to get a B+ in that class. Avoid it unless you are being vigorously poked with a sharp object.
