She's one of the worst profs I've ever had. She is really condescending and really cares about participation. If you don't like speaking in front of the class then don;t take her. She's super boring and she grades really hard. She requires a doctor's note if you miss class. Really? We're not in high school ma'am. I absolutely hated her class.

Professor Lauermann is a great, friendly professor who continually offers to meet with students if they have any questions. The Political Research Methods class was not nearly as difficult as students made it out to be-- as long as you pay attention in class and start your research paper at a reasonable time, you will be absolutely fine.

WARNING: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. Dr. Lauermann is an extremely helpful and friendly professor, and she will help you if you ask for it. However, this class is extremely difficult; I took 4 AP classes in highschool, including Calc, and this class was WAYYY harder. Don't take her FYS class unless you really want a challenge.

Not a 200 level class. Politics major switch majors because this class is so difficult. Is not clear at all tells students to look at the book if they have questions. This class and her made me wish I had switched majors. Avoid her at all costs.

This class was incredibly difficult. DO NOT SIGN UP. This professor is extraordinarily difficult and teaches this intro level class at a near-graduate level. I put in at least double the effort of my other classes and still ended up a full letter grade below my next hardest class. TAKE ANOTHER FYS SECTION. You won't regret it.

This class is extremely difficult; considerably more so than any other of my classes. I went into this class expecting to learn current events. We didn't. It was very book heavy and she grades very stringently. . I received a "B-" while putting in twice as much effort as my "A-" classes. Do NOT sign up for this class, and if you have DROP IT

Dr. Lauermann is very smart and teaches well, but has extremely high expectations. Unless you really love politics and history, I wouldn't recommend taking "Democracy in America": I expected to be discussing current issues, but we spent most of the semester debating topics such as the federalist papers. Lots of reading, tough to earn a good grade.

Dr. Lauermann is an extremely difficult professor who teaches a subject matter that is entirely mind-boggling to say the least. I spent the majority of her Political Research Method's class completely confused and longing desperately for escape. Nice enough and offers assistance if you ask for it. I would not recommend this professor.

Truly an awful professor. Is respectful to students but not clear at times. In political research methods most of the class failed the midterm including me. That shows that it is her teaching not all the students fault. One good thing is she does a good job of not putting her personal politics into class. But I don't enjoy her classes overall.

If you are a freshman, do not take this class. It is very hard and also not very interesting. She is an extremely hard grader on paper(which count for most of your grade). I thought Democracy in America would be modern stuff but it is too much history for me. Overall, very hard and not very interesting.

Dr. L is wonderful. I really, really loved her as a teacher, but if you're a First-Year Honors Student, don't take her "Democracy in America" for your FYS. It is incredibly hard and, though very interesting at times was also occasionally very dry unless you plan on majoring in Politics. You could take another class and receive a much better grade.

Class was hard, end result was worth it. Dr. L is difficult to understand at times, you MUST pay attention and GO TO CLASS. Read the book, because she will confuse you otherwise. She is very helpful, answering emails and phone calls and available in her office, but be sure to go prepared with specific questions to keep the conversation focused.

It is no wonder the graduating class of 2007 bestowed upon her an award at graduation. She is passionate, caring, and very knowledgable. Never falling short in her quest to educate. Goes to great lengths in providing for the students mind and soul. Difficult is not the word. Rewarding is.

She's one of those teachers that you complain about the difficulty during the actual class, but once you've finished it you realize how much you've LEARNED. Also, she pretty much let us run the class on presentation days. She really only guided the conversations. If you're lazy or hate reading, I would say it's not for you. Oh, and go to cla

Dr. Lauermann's class was difficult, but so very highly rewarding!! She made me feel as though the material was so important, and always managed to help me figure out anything I was having trouble with. I enjoyed the class so much, and the hard work REALLY paid off! She was great, and knows SO much about the subject matter! Incredible teacher.

Probably the most difficult class I have ever taken, but Dr. Lauermann went out of her way to help and show compassion. I probably sent her a hundred e-mails, and she responded to each of them extremely quickly. It's never easy to produce the kind of research paper she expects, but there is something very satisfying in the end result.

She is by far one of the kindest most caring professors on campus. Some people have a hard time keeping up with her during class and complain about the difficulty of her classes but I still would recommend her. She is the best professor I've had. I can't believe she has a lower rating than Eshleman!
