Very solid course for second semester organic. Followed the book exactly. nothing breath taking about the course, but its main goal was to get through the required material. i scored 98 %ile in national organic standardized test, so his approach worked!

A skills course for writing CV, looking for job, writing for publication. Had to tell a joke one week and give a presentation or two later on. Solid course if uninspiring.

Roc is in his element when teaching biochemistry. Very well done class. Liked it a lot. I had a schedule conflict, and he worked with over the summer to get a head start. Only complaint is that this class did not sufficiently parallel the human biochemistry that I needed for medical school.

First time teaching Advanced Mammilian Physiology. Excellent labs. Lectures showed he was a bit rusty on some of the material, but the textbook covered it. I'm a big fan of Roc--took 6+ classes with him--but this wasn't his strongest suit.

solid teacher for standard intro course. some find the material dry, but it is a standard intro course that has to cover certain material for science majors.

Comment:
I took Nutrition with Roc, and it was ridiculous. He seems like a very nice man, but he is a sucky professor. The class could have been really informative and interesting, but instead, he spent a lot of time explaining things that didn't matter. I feel like I learned very little and wasted my time. The only plus was that it was easy. Avoid him.

If you're in his class for the science, the joke's on you. Otherwise, leave your ego at the door, relax, and listen to the guy. Smile, too -- it won't kill you. He won't teach any science, but he'll learn you a thing or two about being happy and de-stressing.

NOT FOR SCIENCE MAJORS. If science is your bag, please don't take this class. Roc Ordman is a genius and taught us tons of things about life. Very little about Chemistry and I'm just fine with that. I've learned more useful from him than from many other professors.

when he's "good," it's because he says something hilarious or outrageous, though sometimes he's just offensive. I didn't learn anything; it was frustrating having to put forth any effort (especially smiling; his favorite students are the suck-ups). but it's very easy. if you're enroll in his class, take everything he says with a grain of salt.

Comment:
Roc is a horrible professor. He thinks he's being the kind, understanding professor, when really he's just completely lost touch with reality. He had students up on tables telling them to strip, told another student she was ugly, and was rude and inconsiderate when a girl died. Going to class was just painful.

Amazing, quirky, kind professor, though somewhat disorganized. Was not big on memorizing facts, but big on in-class discussions. Roc has changed my view of science ten times for the better. He teaches most of all the philosophy of science. Full of great stories, also. Take his class if you are looking for a brilliant but nutty professor.
