He is such a bad professor, our class almost reported him to the english department for being such a condescending prick who's grading system is completely unjust. He's **** and seems to be stoned at every class, which may work for some people, but when it comes to teaching, is decisively unhelpful.

At the beginning of this class Dotson will come off as an ok guy, until you get your first paper back and he has no reasoning behind his grading policy. If he doesn't agree with your topic he will rip you a new one infront of the whole class. You will read ridiculous books on physics topics. Trust me you don't want to take this one.

He is a good guy but not so good teacher. he has very littel outside work but you do read alot and mostly hard to understand books which are not at all interestng (except maybe 3) He is not clear on what he expects or wants and tends to change his mind whenever the wind blows. He grades harshly.

WORST TEACHER EVER! you are not allowed to have a viewpoint on anything or you are wrong. If you dont kiss his butt then you can have the greatest paper n still do bad on it. We watched movies that had nothing to do with the class and didnt learn a thing about reasearch which is what the class is about! DO NOT TAKE! He should be fired!

Dotson is a good guy. And his class is fun too, never mind what all other ppl say. The only reason you won't like his class is if u're extremely lazy. I mean u don't do any more work other than abt 4 papers through a whole semester. Weird sometimes, but in the interesting way. My class with him was a memorable one.

As an English Education Major I was really upset by this class. You are not allowed to have a thought that is of your own or it is incorrect. He was horrible and I wouldn't take him if you paid me money to take him. He hates debates yet he will stsrt on with you and will tell you that your point is incorrect. If you are a great writer pray.

no test, homework, or quizes. Four 2 page papers the entire year. No class work or anything. You are allowed to miss 5 days. Sometimes he is not every clear on what he wants, but ask questions. As long as you do the papers, you are gauranteed a B in the class!

Ok, so I can see both sides... that he is boring and that he is a great teacher. If you come to class, put effort into the few things he asks you to do, and occassionally visit his office, he is helpful, interesting and kind. He IS weird, but is really a great teacher if you act as though you care. He doesn't try with students who dont care.
