I didn't like him at first (a bit arrogant) but when I compare what I learned from him to my other instructors it was night and day. I didn't realize it at first but Rodney's definately influenced my way of thinking and social work practice. He's an influential social worker and I'm glad to have been in his class.

One of the best classes and instructors at UCFV. Rodney challenged my beliefs on substance issues and in general. This was a good thing. He seems to have high expectations but he does deliver - I felt like I accomplished something amazing and learned some great new skills. Listen, follow the instructions and you'll do fine. Rodney is a credit to teaching. Few instructors would bring controverial guests to class. Rodney not only did, he showed the true meaning of treating all people with dignity and respect despite thier substance misuse. Exceptional for a sustance abuse class!You set high expectations Rodney but you walk the walk and are a man of intergrity. Thankyou

Rodney is a great instructor and made this more class applicable by bringing in speakers from the field and sharing useful practice examples. I had him a few years ago when he was a new instructor and he's gotten a lot better! His instructions are clear and his marking fair - there are no surprises. He's funny, approachable and easy on the eyes!

what an awesome class and instructor! i'd take a class with Rodney anytime. he's easy-going, funny, real and means what he says (follow his instructions on assignments and you'll do fine!). i learned much more than i expected which was great for a summer course! thanks Rod!

What a great class and instructor! I learned so much from Rodney. He's fairly clear on his expectations so you need to listen to what he asks for regarding assignments and tests. He's funny, approachable and helpful. I've recommended him to friends and will definately take a class from him again.

awesome class, great teacher. He is very clear on what he expects and shows it through his marking. He always dresses nice, so not only do you get to learn about substance misuse, but you get to stare at Rodney for 3 months, bonus!

Great instuctor, made the class enjoyable and loads of fun. Rodney, great fashion sense, however, I hated the long black pointy shoes!!! Loved the orange shirt!! Hope your around next year for some 4th year courses!

One of the best classes i've taken at UCFV! Rodney made this class interesting and challenged my beliefs. Has high expectations but for reasons he's clear about. He's helpful and has a good sense of humour. Highly recommend taking this class if you actually want to learn something useful.

Very knowledgable and fair instructor, has high expectations but gets results. Made the course interesting with guest speakers and extra resources. He tries hard to generate appreciation in the course work. A wonderful experience overall, I learned so much. Plus, he's not at all hard on the eyes!

an awesome prof, made classes interesting by brining in guests, alternatives to lecturing etc. Would highly recommend this course with Rodney. Has high expectations for quality of work but provides fair warning of that in the first class. Just make sure you know APA style really well!
