Comment:

Dr. Strand is one of the most dedicated ecologists i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He loves to talk insects, fish, trees, plants and most importantly caddisflies. He loves caddisflies, expecially the hydropsychids. He has extremely in depth exams that quiz you not on only the material but how to apply what you know. A true Gem!

Dr. Strand is passionate about Entomology, which is BI424. However, his lectures are hard to follow, and usually when you review your notes from lecture, they make little sense. He's always late to lecture by at least 15 minutes, and there's little to no guidance on what to study for. The exams are very difficult, along with the papers.

Dr. Strand is the best. He reminds me of Michael Stipe. Very nice and always willing to help. The class was interesting and I learned a lot. He is a hard grader, but he has a review session before each test, so there are no surprises. Highly recommended!!

Dr. Strand is a great teacher, probably the best I've had in my college experience. His classes are not easy by any means, and attendance is definitely needed to do well, but the material, along with his knowledge, makes for an awesome yet interesting class.

Don't ever miss class because you won't get the information off of his slides since he only puts pictures on there. Also, he uses some kind of animal in every example of what could be a simple definition. He's very unclear.

A refreshing change after Bird. I love fishing and fish, and he is obsessed with fish so that made it real interesting for me! Very down to earth and understandable man. Makes class fun, ESPECIALLY after Bird! I'd reccommend him for any BIO class.

Strand is a very dedicated professor who is always interested in his work. He is very energetic and fun during lecture but pay close attention to what he is saying. Study hard, know the scientific names, know the identifing features, and only take this class if you are truely interested in a future entomology career

This is a great class, and if you expect it to be difficult going into it, you will be fine. Dr. Strand is very passionate about entomology, and he conveys this in every lecture. He has awesome photos and listens to fun music during lab. Take this class, but be prepared for a lot of studying.
