He's a nice guy and a good teacher and offers time after class to help you out. You've really gotta have a brain for music theory otherwise you'll get lost. He can be judgmental of certain people but still offers to help.

Mr. Bayer is really awesome! i would push to music theory 2 or possibly3 but music theory 1 is already good enough for me. I learned so much. Mr. Bayer really care for his students. I took his class 2016-17 spring I wish to take music theory 1 over and over again if the school lets me do it.

Probably one of the best professors at this school. Very funny and makes music theory exciting to learn. The class might be hard if you don't have any music background, but it's manageable if you put some effort. You will learn a lot by the time the quarter ends.

The teacher is very very nice, he tries to pass you even if Music Theory is difficult, and cares for his students. The only thing you'll fail is not being proficient on reading notes.

Professor Bayer may be the best professor I have ever had. Being an education major, I pay close attention to teaching style, and I really admire Professor Bayer's. You don't feel like you're working very hard because he connects topics so fluidly, and it's really easy to follow along. Only when you look back do you realize how much you've learned.

For me, music theory is a breeze, it is just a part of me that was given by God. But for most people it is not so easy. Do not look at this class as an easy A. It is just the opposite, you will have to practice and do the worksheets and listen and ask lots of questions. But as long as you do, you are going to have no problem.

I really enjoyed my joined Music Theory & Ear Training class with Ron. He is an amazing teacher and instructor. Having music background and knowing piano really helped me do very well in this class. I look forward to taking another class with him and I would totally recommend him. It can get hard if you don't pay attention and work for your grade.

Comment:

Don't slack on ear training or homework assignments--it makes everything much more difficult. That said, he's extremely understanding and willing to work with students outside of class. He's a fast talker, so listen close! But he'll also hold the class back if he feels he needs to and answers questions. Definitely passionate and knows his stuff!!

Ron is hilarious, wise, and just an all around great guy. Music Theory and Ear Training become very difficult after the first quarter but if you put forth the effort and participate you can excel. Highly recommended for anyone interested in music, you will gain a tremendous amount of music knowledge!

Ron is a great teacher. He knows his music. He has high expectations, but he's always willing to help if you don't understand something. If you ask me, the class is easy, but others struggle. He tells great stories and can answer any question. I've definitely enjoyed his classes.

Comment:

Bayer is one of the best teachers around. He knows his stuff and you can tell he has a great passion for music. He's also really nice and sometimes funny. The class isn't hard as long as you show up and pay attention. Also, do the ear training exercises at home or you'll regret it. I highly recommend this class with Mr. Bayer.

As an experienced musician Mr. Bayer can relate reality to theory which makes the class interesting and useful. The 50 minutes go by quickly as Mr. Bayer is a smooth and skilled lecturer. Attend all classes and do all homework and you will get a good grade.

Probably the best professor ever. I took all the music theory and ear training classes and it was probably the most I have learned in almost all my classes and it was time WELL spent! Don't expect it to be easy especially if you don't have a musical background, but you learn so much that is so applicable to life. 100% recommend it!

Possibly my favorite professor at GRCC, and definitely one of my favorite teachers of all time. What's not to like? He's helpful, funny, straight to the point, knowledgeable, and best of all, he's reasonable when it comes to grades, homework, and pretty much everything else. I highly recommend his MUSC 108, 109, and 110 classes.

His music theory and ear training classes get pretty difficult (after the first quarter) but that is just because it is a difficult subject, but he will help you as much as he can. Also, his computer music classes (108,109,110) are the most fun class I have ever taken.
