Few weeks into his class, I know I was wrong registering his class. He acts like he is cool but his method of teaching is just terrible. Too much personas, too little useful knowledge. Beware that he will talk a lot of nonsense about his work. I wonder who gives a fvck about all of those.

(cont.) Still a cool guy though. But his choice of teaching methods/tools is just so terrible and really pissed me off after a few classes. He should change the course name to "Parallel Procesing in Scala". And stop forcing people to read his code and study his paper. People come to this class to learn about Parallel Processing, not his stuffs.

Teaches Parallel Processing, doesn't know what OpenMP is, mistaken it with message passing paradigm (OpenMPI). Final tests include many question about MongoDB SYNTAX which a normal mind knows how to google in 1 click. Force students to work on his software as a project which nobody uses/cares. 4 credits $3,200 wasted. Terrible. Stupidity.

Coleman is the man. He isn't the clearest or most informative professor. His class can droll on sometimes. But, he is extremely fair and has a way of condensing material in a digestible way. He took Assembly programming and made it interesting. My class made two games as assignments. I was interested, and the class was fairly easy.

Professor Coleman is an AMAZING teacher!!! He is extremely relaxed which makes his class so enjoyable. His assignments are fun and he is a very understand professor. Midterm and Final were VERY fair so as long as you try and put effort in the class there's no reason you shouldn't get a very rewarding grade. Would take him for every CS class!!!!

Ron is the bomb. One of the few professors with real work world experience, so projects are real world, not silly toys. This means they are tough, and the tests are brutal. But when you're done with his course you'll be well prepared. He is a great wealth of knowledge during office hours.

Ron is great, it's just a shame that he's overweight on master's level classes. I'd like him to teach all CS courses. His tests aren't easy, he gives the correct amount of homework, and he teaches useful things (since he's spent time in industry). Take him if you're serious about your major.

I took him for an introduction to Java class. Basically I am glad I knew C++ already because while he is super knowledgeable about everything, and his information is always important and relevant, he has trouble simplifying it. If you want a more straight forward but harder professor take Hayes.

If you can take Professor Coleman for anything, do. I went into his CS I class with no knowledge of any programming languages, and can now program in Java very easily. Unfortunately, he may not teach a CS II class the next semester, but that is the only downside to taking one of his classes.

He's a very nice and knowledgable guy, but his teaching skills leave much to be desired. He has trouble dumbing down concepts enough for non-programmers to understand him. I came in the the class with a good knowledge of Java, and i cringed at some of the ways he tried to explain the concepts.

shouldn't really be teaching a course like this. the last course in the pointless IS130/404/461 requirement. you won't learn anything new it's the same stuff you saw frosh year. the book sucks which is where the material comes from. really nice guy though
