Dr. Cooley did all he could to make English interesting. If you aren't going to actually read books (which isn't overly necessary for essays) you should at least Google them really well (for his quizzes)

Of all of the profs I'd had this year, Dr. Cooley was definitely my favourite. His lectures were easy to follow along with and kept the students entertained. His performance of Jabberwocky was the best moment of my university career thus far. It's a shame he won't be returning next year, I definitely would have taken another one of his classes.

Awesome prof! He really made sure everyone was understanding the concepts he was teaching and made sure everyone was entertained at the same time. It's a shame he won't be teaching next year... I would definitely take a class from him again

Cooley is a great prof! He's one of the reasons why I got into reading once again. It's a shame that he's not returning next year. He really cares about his students and helps them in terms of their essays and exams with the lecture content. Some of his essays' instructions were very difficult to organize and understand but it was marked fairly.

Cooley is amazing, his lectures are interesting and he cares about personal improvement in students. Throughout the course he linked everything to course thesis which made essays and the final so much easier to prepare for. Also his performance of Jabberwocky has been the best moment of university thus far.

If you need any extra help he will give it to you. Tends to say "umm" a lot. Some of the essays were very confusing to understand (and were graded fairly tough) but overall he wants students to do good in the class. The midterm/midyear exam was extremely easy. He tries to make the lectures as exciting as possible. Overall not too bad.

Marking was tough in comparison to other English courses. Although he was really knowledgeable of detective fiction, he wasn't always specific with essay topics. I found him to be quite critical of ideas or arguments in essays, and not all reading material was interesting.

Not a bad prof. He's pretty slack about attendance. Makes you buy a lot of novels but its an all year class to that is expected I guess. Even if you aren't that interested in English, this guy is pretty good.

This was a somewhat challenging class for me for the first few weeks and about to drop the class. However, Dr.Cooley encouragement and belief that I could succeed kept me going and I'm finding the class though challenging, very rewarding. He knows and loves what he does, very approachable. I'll greatly recommend taking his class. Thanks Prof!

I've really enjoyed having Dr. Cooley as a professor. He's very outgoing and kind, and it's been a pleasure attending the classes. It's been hard keeping up with the reading, but that's not too surprising for someone who doesn't read often.

I've taken a couple classes with him. Each time, he proves to be a fair marker, and more than willing to help students with anything - extra projects, research, writing style. His lectures are a little boring, but he makes an effort. Recommend him.
