I'm dropping this class as of today. I have never been called a bad writer ever...until now. And I'm not one of those students who refuses to see fault in oneself (I did poorly in Kimiyoshi Inomata's Japanese class last semester, but that was entirely my fault, Inomata is a brilliant teacher). This guy is just an utter moron.

Mistake!!! no wonder no one signed up for the class. he is terrible! he made me feel like a terribel writer because i dont have the experience he does. take a semester off of english insted.over half of the class dropped and of the ones who stayed,almost all are fail

Mr. Johnson gives really hard and very structured assignments. If you are not with him in his anti-American beliefs and if you just try to have fun with writing, then the class clearly is not your thing. I invested tons of time for the essays and ultimately got just a B. He tends to throw fits once in a while too. ANgry and sad.

The worst english teacher that I have ever taken at ccsf. Really gets pissed over the smallest things. His readings and assignments are so boring. I remember doing group work, and told him I did most of the work. He didn't care. Do NOT waste your time with this miserable class and human being.

horrible, literally, he can't teach, makes you want to sleep, and will give out D's and F's without second thoughts. Learned nothing from him, harsh grader also, takes off 1 point of 10 for every 1-3 mistakes, if you are not going to be a english/journalist major, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

Great teacher, hilarious stories and great knowledge of material. Somewhat unfocused on occasion, however this is what made the class enjoyable for me. He will grade you on every detail, so be prepared to read and write. Easy to talk to and always ready to provide help!

OMG! I tested into this class. He speaks in tangents and "war" stories. For someone whose course materials contain spelling and grammatical errors, he is a merciless grader and throws a fit even if you have to use the bathroom. SUCKS!

This professor is terrible. He gives poor grades, doesn't curve, and is willing to fail the entire class. What he doesn't realize is that the poor grades are a reflection of his teaching. He is hard to pay attention to in lecture, goes off on tangents, and does not really teach. He gets upset easily so dont piss him off. DONT TAKE HIM.

The man to go to if you're serious about learning to write. Always available in office hours, always willing to discuss difficulties and show one how to solve them. He does not suffer fools gladly or otherwise. Prove your commitment and he will invest 100% in honing your talent. Very knowledgeable, highly intelligent. Nice eyes!

Mr. Johnson is not easy. If you struggle with English I'd recommend taking the class from someone else. His personality is hard to take at times, and he's not an easy grader. If you're planning to transfer into a major with a lot of essays required, you'd be well served to hone your writing skills now. His class will definitely do that.

He does rant about random stuff but if you make the effort to talk to him during his office hours he will help you.
