Poetry is a fun, easy class. You don't learn much from the lectures, but the exercises he gives you REALLY make you think and have produced some great work.

Ron's creative writing class is an enjoyable and engaging introduction to what fiction and poetry can be. He'll introduce you to smart, beautiful, unpretentious writing examples and offer thoughtful critiques on your own work. Take advantage of his expertise and meet up for coffee--he's very mellow and easy to talk to!

I agree with all of the other comments, but keep in mind his grading system is VERY SUBJECTIVE. Never returns papers or feedback on work. Final grade is a mystery.I worked my ass off for the class and got a B.Great guy, great teacher, worth taking, but unless you're a really great creative writer, you will be getting a B no matter how hard you work

He is funny, awesome, aloof, and quite smart. Full of mystery and a childish sense of what literary fun should be.

One of those fantastic professors who not only knows his stuff (he has great published work) but also has the ability to teach what he knows well. He's funny, reasonable, uses good material, will teach you well, and you'll like him.
