Please, save yourself from taking this professor. He does EVERYTHING but teach. The class consists of 4 essays that he doesn't explain and expects you to write like a philosopher(loves giving Cs)when he spends all of class on his Twitter that no one cares about, he should focus on actually doing his job and teaching us what we paid money to learn.

I really didn't like waddy's teaching style, he tells you what the essay topic is and leaves you to fend for yourself, he is very impatient when you try to ask for help in his office hours, buy the small textbook he asks for b/c he constantly asks for it in class. You really have to work for it to get an A, consists of 3 essays and 1 research paper

You only get four essays as a grade but leaves them up to the students mostly to figure out what he is looking for. Really a trial and error but loved his teaching style and really gained a lot from the class. My essays have definitely improved since this class.

His teaching style is unnervingly unorthodox. He's very repetitious and always has his phone out; constantly promoting his Twitter accounts. Takes attendance at the end of class. Four essays for the semester and his grading is weird and usually doesn't give any feedback. The stories used for the essays are not too bad, though.

He has a habit of sighting everything he says in reference of avoiding plagiarism and gives credit where credit is do (he also hates cliches and anything in 1st or 2nd person). He has a way of reaching out to his students and getting them to understand the material. He has the desire for us to learn at our full ability. He is very encouraging.

Only English teacher to actually teach me what goes into a paper and how. Goes into depth on all aspects of his teaching. Makes you think beyond the line of limitations and pushes you to go further. GREAT TEACHER

Mr. Waddy is passionate in what he teaches, but he needs to improve on his teaching style. He fails to provide sufficient examples, and yet grades at a CSU level. Four papers for the semester, does not give clear feedback, or instruction on how to write the paper. It's a hit or miss. Takes attendance at the end of class.

Doesn't really teach you fundamentals in writing and expects all to be knowledgeable on writing essays but I do agree with most, his topics are usually fun and interesting but he spends a vast amount of time speaking on his thoughts to the point that it confuses the class about the actual topic of the essay.

You only do four essays though the entire semester, it's about the stories and topics he chooses(boring). He isn't clear at all about the prompts and what makes me upset the most is that he doesn't give you a rubric or any explanation about his grading other than originality and grammar.

Mr. Waddy is the best English professor I have ever taken. I learned a lot from him. He picks fun topics to write essays on, this semesters topics were Mars Exploration, Hip Hop and Technology dependency (5 paragraphs only, no works cited) then final 10 pg research essay, you pick the topic. Easy & fun overall.

Great teacher, has passion for the topic and stories but is a strict grader, his classes run past the end time on the schedule, my class suppose to end at 10:45 he always ends about 5-10 min after. Always takes attendance at last minute. He is very helpful if you ask for it

He is a good instructor. If you go see him he will help you and tell you what he wants to see in essay and it will help a lot. If you don't go see him you have to rely on your writing skills alone because he doesn't really do lessons to improve your writing. He gives you a story and you work in a group to find discuss. Good teacher still, funny too

Mr. Waddy is passionate in what he teaches. However, his teaching style needs to improve. If you're slow and need help with English, don't consider him. He fails to provide sufficient examples, and yet grades quite strictly. Almost all of my classmates complained about him regularly because they were confused about the assigned essays.

A great teacher who covers interesting subjects and helps individuals develop the ability to write in short periods of time. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who needs to take 1b. Read a story, watch the movie, talk about it, write an in class essay. Pretty strait forward.

I just have to think that Mr. Waddy has more to offer than he gave. He was constantly distracted and late. He would spend long periods of time in the hall on the phone and texting. When in class, we rarely followed the format and I felt I was the victim of "busy work." Also, he shows a lot of movies. A very easy class.
