Comment:

There are two short essays PER WEEK and 1 10 page paper due at the end (and around 100-200 pages of reading per week). His grading scheme doesn't make sense and you will have no idea about your grade until the very last day of class. He is definitely eccentric but knowledgeable. Class discussions are generally fun and material is interesting.

Comment:

I took his Lit & Med course and found it to be very useful for anyone considering medicine. He assigns a short daily writing (500 words) due every class. I am not a particularly strong writer (read - engineering) but found this doable. The class was discussion heavy and this is his way of keeping everyone engaged with the material. Highly recommend

Honestly, quite a boring class, but you can definitely be on your laptop the entire lecture. Daily assignments that are not graded harshly, and one single paper that determines your whole grade. An easy A, but if not you can have a revision. Super welcoming in his office hours!

I highly recommend taking Dr. Schleifer -not for his class- but for his office time. He is a brilliant man that loves helping his students and he is very easygoing. His class wasn't that exciting & he doesn't give out grades so participation/showing up to class is HUGE. If you get to know him outside of the classroom then you have a GREAT contact

Overall, a great class. Schleifer is a great person to talk to both professionally and personally. He's silly in class, but you also walk away learning a lot each class period. While attendance is not required, participation is a large chunk of your grade. HW is easy and straight forward. I would definitely take this class again.

Professor Schleifer was great. He is very funny and willing to help you accomplish any goal. He knows Ireland really well and he keeps the class interesting with his personal stories. The class is discussion based and if the class has good enough discussions he will cancel the final. It's a cool class compared to some upper level English classes.

He is awesome. He knows so much. He is very disarming and you wonder if he is very bright at first, but then he just amazes you over the semester. Such an awesome professor. And go to his office hours. He will befriend anyone and do anything to help you not just in his class but in others.

Dr. Schleifer epitomizes the eccentric prof, He's hilarious & really fun to have as a prof. Don't let his apparent absent-mindedness fool you, though:He's a brilliant, incredibly well-read man and is also extremely helpful with all stages of the writing process. Recommended.

Schleifer is cool and very smart, but I didn't learn much from him. He basically interprets for you and for a 3000 lev. English class, it wasn't very challenging. He flirts an awful lot. He is cute and funny.
