Doctor Spiller was a great teacher, who was very passionate about what he taught. I had a hard time in the class due to not reading like I should have!!

Dr. Spiller is everything I expect from a college professor. He knows the material inside and out, communicates it in a clear fashion, and expects mastery of the material to earn an A. I am a history lover, but I had to work much harder than expected! Definitely a man who demands and deserves the respect of his students.

I was there every class, I read all of the chapters we were assigned, I even did the review questions at the end of the chapters. I am not afraid to work for my grades! I loved his lectures and I think he is a brilliant man. On that note, I dropped the class. I got an F on the first test. I am glad I did. I had a 4.0 that semester!

I took only one class with him, and it was a mixed bag. He was nice and passionate about the material, but the degree to which he actually taught the class was less than expected. It was particularly unclear what would be on tests and there were no grading opportunities besides them. I'm willing to bet he's more focused in higher level courses.

Military History of the US is my favorite class. Its my major and Dr Spiller is hands down the best person to teach it, anywhere! A retired Army Intel Colonel, Spiller knows everything about military history. We constantly discuss in class and its a great atmosphere. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a history major. plain and simple.

Dr. Spiller is one of the best professors in the History department at EUP. Hist 101 sounds like an easy class, but its not as easy as the '101' implies. Theres thousands of years of history crammed into one class. In short: If you dont read all of the material, you'll fail. If you read and pay attention, you'll pass.

One of the more difficult professors, but if you pay attention, go to class, and read the book it isn't that bad. If you make an effort to pass you will. The first test was difficult, but once you know his test creating style you can predict the rest of the exams. Do not take looking for an easy A, but to learn about history instead.

The worst teacher ever, very rude and mean. He says 3-4 test but you end up having 1. Talks most of the class about movies or what he did in war. When you do have a exam it is the HARDEST test in the world, no multiple chose all short answer. Basically if you want an F take him.

Half the class drops out every semester, the class average test score is an F. He's a nice guy but he makes the most ridiculous tests. When you ask him for help, he says to just learn everything on your own. Never, ever take Spiller.

Bad teacher. Talked about useless things during class and only had 4 extremely long tests to be graded from. Easy F.

He is awful. I studied like crazy for his test and received a F. It was ridiculous. He doesn't give you a study guide, his exams deal between 5-7 chapters, and he quizzes you on maps that he has never mentioned. He is very rude when you ask him questions. He didn't even know what chapters he was lecturing on.

Very interesting professor. I enjoy history so I really liked his class. Try and study as much as you can but his tests are impossible. I did get a 100% on the final though. Just KEEP YOUR TESTS and memorize the questions. They're word for word the same questions on the final.

Try your hardest on the test but no matter how much you study you'll never do well. BUT just memorize the questions from the first three exams for the final and there is no reason you shouldn't get a 100% percent on it, and since it's worth 60% of your grade then you should do fine in the class. Cool teacher

This class was beyond boring. His lectures are hard to follow and kind of all over the place. Read the book and memorize the maps that he says to and you should be okay, but it is still difficult to follow along sometimes.

People always say he is a hard teacher. Not at all. You do HAVE to go to his class though. Also if you can't follow a lecture or take good notes then don't even bother taking him. Also the final was only questions from previous finals and a big map, easy stuff to remember. Great teacher, makes the material (most of the time) interesting.

Don't complain a college course is difficult, this isn't highschool. Dr. Spiller is extremely knowledgable. I have taken several of his classes because he and his classes are very interesting. If you want a good grade, do the reading assigned, it's college, you'r going to have to read!
