Comment:
This is the Franklin Class, so everyone knows the Ross Boss. The class is entirely discussion based, so its super dope. The assignments are lots of work, but it's manageable, as long as you don't procrastinate the papers. You to know about the lives of you fellow cohort members, maybe a little too much about them (Gabriel).

Dr. Bassett is amazing! If you are a Ben Franklin Scholar be open-minded about the class. There is a lot of reading, and most of the classes are just discussions but the people are all amazing in the class and Dr. Bassett really cares. He will always be ready to help you with the papers and everything in between!

Comment:
Dr. Bassett is the best. His lectures were almost all discussion-based, usually surrounding the (lengthy) reading assignment from the night before. This class was a great way to meet other Franklin Scholars and was more thought-provoking than any of my other classes. Dr. Bassett is always willing to meet outside of class and is very helpful!

If you're here because of BFS, then everyone knows Ross. Easily the most fun I've ever had in a class. Sure, there is plenty of reading involved, but it was all worthwhile. I changed my second major to STS because of this class. I can't wait to be part of the program over the coming years.

Dr. Bassett teaches informative topics, but is not the best lecturer. Lots of readings and papers, but the papers are not very long. He is willing to talk to students outside of class. He also hates cell phones, so keep your's away or he will kick you out of class.

He's a pretty good professor in general, can't lecture too well though but makes up for it with the quality of what he has to say. There's quite a bit of reading to do but it's really not to bad as he does a good job picking interesting and informative stuff to read.

Comment:
Professor Ross is a very sweet professor who really cares about his students. He is a very lenient grader. For HI 485, BE PREPARED TO READ. All homework is reading and the classes are all discussions about the readings but Ross does not force you to participate. Attendance not taken but discussions necessary. No tests or quizzes, just papers.

Do not take this class if you are a history major. The man is bright, however he thinks like an engineer and not a historian.

Be prepared to do some work in this class. The class itself is easy except there is some outside work that is basically busy work. As long as you do it on time (don't procrastinate!) then you should get an A.

If you don't like to write papers, I'd advise you not to take it. It's nothing a college student couldn't handle, it's just a lot of writing. I'm an English major, so I loved the way he managed his class. No tests, just papers. Very easy, as long as you don't mind writing and don't suck at it.

He's a great person! He can't lecture very well, but he gets his point across anyway. The class is a lot of discussion, so read what he tells you to read and you'll be fine. Be sure to keep up with all the work he gives you - he won't remind you of it. But if you do everything with a modium of effort, it's a pretty easy class.

Great teacher with a lot of great ideas. Some papers are assigned for the class but he is willing to work with students to improve their thought processes and writing. So I'd suggest the class regardless of any dislike for writing.
