You don't need to go to lecture but READ the textbook. Most multiple choice questions are example scenarios, essay question is really difficult. Boring prof and same with his lectures.

Lectures were dry and boring, as most of the material is ripped right out of the textbook. Russell tries his best to make the class entertaining, but fails as he goes on random tangents sometimes. Attend lectures for the iclicker quizzes, and read the textbook religiously. The average for the essay parts of the exam were really close to failure too

His class is not like other first year psych classes. It was difficult especially the written part for exams. Mcq questions r kind of tricky but it's pree easy if u study in detail. READ THE BOOK no need to go to the lecture. First long ans question was about designing a research study so study about it for the first exam. Be careful not easy.

I emailed him lots of time but he always said go check syllabus. I mean if I understand it then why am I waste my time email him... Plus if thats the case then his lecture are 99% based on textbook, why are we need to go the lecture since everything is on textbook. And the exam, assignment grading are so blurry. Not sure what are they looking for.

I heard a rumour "the head office talk to him about avg so low, he claimed there was a guy got 98%, which means it was an easy test." lmao. good luck with future students. Tips are memorizing all the things from textbook and slides and all the things he said then you should pass:(

You do not need to buy the textbook or go to the class because he uses the US version of the txtbook which is available online and has lectures online too incase you cant find something. Make sure for the written section, you put down literally everything related to the topic and atleast 1/2 sources to get a good mark.

Cant say too much when the first essay exam mean were 30% I think at least 20% ppl will fail this class because he never tell you what he expects on the essay Boring lecture with useless content which you can find on textbook anyways Just dont take it with him. If you take it then good luck with you

The class is literally the textbook. Just memeorize the textbook and you'll do fine, his lecture's are somewhat related but you don't need to study them at all, the entire test is based on the textbook. The essay answers are marked farily hard for a first year course.

Russell Day is a pretty good teacher. He is passionate about the material and his class was really interesting. There were 4 exams total which is kind of a lot but if you read the textbook chapters you will do well. The essay questions on the exams were really difficult so make sure you have an amazing ability to comprehend and apply material.

There isn't a lot of clear guidelines to what is expected for the essay questions on the midterms. Went to his office hour and he makes you feel like you should't be asking questions if you are able to find the definitions in the textbook. He comes off as rude and arrogant.

The essay questions are marked incredibly hard. You have to meberozre the exact specfic deatils he wants you too to get a good mark. Its unfair for a first year class in my poion, I've taken higher level courses that require less deatiled answers. Other then that hes not too bad, he tests on the textbook, NOT lectures

makes psyc102 unnecessarily hard and the grading scheme is tough even though you drop a quiz 6/7 and a test 3/4 written sections are harshly marked - you have to memorize what he wants really have to get the concepts down would be better if class was curved would not take again too difficult for a 100 level course
