He's a bit boring & often tells stories(some that relate to class and some that don't). You have to atleast skim the pages he assigns & do the hw because he will ask you to answer. All his tests are written, a map on the first & identifications, a short answer and an essay. You have to work hard and know the stuff to do well but he's a cool prof.

All I can say is go to class, do the homework (about an hour a week) and read the book a little and you will do more than fine. I put in about 3 hours a week max and got an A in this class. Boring lectures but straight forward and easy to understand

He loves to lecture! Also had him for Span201. Though he assigns hw Qs from textbook he doesn't always let students answer, he lectures. Read the book you'll be fine. EXAMS ARE ALL WRITTEN. Also get caffeine before class. Nonetheless, he's a nice guy who loves to tell stories. Wish there was more student interaction though.

Dr Zumbo is a very nice man, who will make learning Italian very fun and easy. I enjoyed his class very much. His class is very interactive and the textbook is used heavily. The class requires a lot of work outside the classroom, but if you put in the effort he will notice and you will do better. Take the class!

I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and this was the worst teacher I've ever had. He makes the class so unnecessarily difficult and only teaches from the book. Has absolutely no patience for anyone.

Prof. Zumbo is the greatest. All of class is just rereading the texts in class and answering the homework questions. There are only two tests plus the final, and no quizzes. There is one oral presentation that is only 3-5 minutes and he winks and smiles a lot if he likes you. Great GenEd if you have had 3+ years of high school Spanish.

The class could be so much easier. He reviews the work from the book (which is never graded) by randomly calling on people in class. The only grades are tests and quizzes. If you put in a lot (and I mean a lot) of effort into studying and practically memorizing the book, you should get a good grade. Workbook was only used once.

You get book work where you teach yourself the section. Then he goes over it in class and asks you questions in italian the rest of class. He expects you to understand the material the second he teaches it. Very hard class, poor instructor. I dont suggest.

He lays out all assignments in the syllabus. Do them before class, and you're golden. He notices if you do them! He immerses you in the class from the beginning by speaking in Spanish the whole class. It helps, so don't let it scare you! Go in with an open mind, and don't be afraid to mess up. Everyone does, and it only makes you better.

Prof Zumbo is an incredibly nice man, but this class was not at all what I expected. Seeing as it was a 101 class I expected to learn vocab and ease into the language. This was not the case at all. Its basically immersion. He doesn't explain what things mean unless you ask The class is spent going over the homework and him calling on ppl to review

He doesn't really teach; he just goes over exercises he gives for homework. You have to know your stuff or else he will call you out in the middle of class. Nice guy but pretty intense as a teacher.

WORST TEACHER EVER!This wretched man made me hate Spanish. Before this class I loved my Spanish classes and learning the language and culture. I received all A?s in previous classes, I went to Spain and my father is Colombian. He should be fired for being a horrible teacher and for trying to make people feel less than him.

Nice guy, not the best teacher. Things make perfect sense to him, but he can't really relay the information. Lots and lots of book work that he doesn't grade. The tests are pretty hard, but if you devote your entire life to it, you'll be fine.

Took this as a summer class and it flew by. He was clear on the assignments we had to do and we weren't graded too harshly. It is basically a review of 102 with A LOT of culture along with it. Do all of the readings and remember the dates and you should be fine. Ended up with a B like the majority of my class.

There is a reason this guy is/was head of the department. His class made me feel honored to be in it. He's funny too. The only thing I would recommend is tell him if you have student loans. He expects that book first day!
