Very good professor. Exams are taken seriously, and lectures as well as attendance. In my opinion, the class taken was for those interested in the major. Be careful testing the class out if you're unsure whether the major is right for you.

This class was one of the most interesting classes I have taken. Mainly because of this teacher. The class was very long but he made it interesting with his creative examples and his willingness to get the class involved.

Don't believe what you hear about this professor. Dr. Lawrence was a great professor. His class was very interesting and it was enjoyable. His tests were challenging, but he gave great lecture notes on how to prepare for them. Take this class, it's worth it!

If you get graded on class participation then why does he make everyone feel like an idiot when they participate. He makes you feel stupid so if you do take this class prepare yourself for him to make you look dumb in front of the class.

tough teachers get bad ratings but they teach u something and they are "real" teachers. This prof is not horrible because he is "tough"he's horrid because he cannot teach! He should stick with research. This class was a waste of money and UCF needs to provide grad students with BETTER instructors. I actually left the MA in Comm4anotherBETTERProgram

You will have no clue what he is looking for in your speeches until after your 2nd speech, only give 3 speeches. Two exams, 20% of the material he covers in class, 80% material that seems to come out of no where. Must be able to remember obscure facts about unimportant topics to speech.

Very bizarre way of grading speeches...Grades everyone very differently...Midterm & Final are difficult, but possible if you read the chapters indepth. Gives everyone a "participation" grade... basically his opinion and this is his way to hurt your grade if he wants to. Don't sit up front...trust me

If you are a good public speaker he will grade you extremely HARSH- but if you stutter and act really nervous he grades you easier- DO NOT TAKE! YOUR GRADE IS BASED ON HIS OPINION HE HAS NO GRADING SCALE! ITS HIS OPINION!

He's a really great guy, but his classes get WAY boring. The examples aren't bad, it may just be a subject that's hard to teach. His tests are another story though-since there aren't really specifics to test on in speech, he grabs at specifics that you'll never be able to study for.

He's a great teacher, don't know what the fuss is. He uses great examples and really gets you to understand information. You have to go to class tho as he skips in the book and tests are only about 75% book. He does do a weird pointy finger thing, tho, that is irritating.

If you have him for undergrad, be prepared to have the same material in grad school...yes, even the "homeboys video", but unfortunately, you still won't be able to pass his class.

If you miss class and miss pop quizzes, it WILL bring your grade down. I did well on the tests but still ended up with a C, 1 point away from a B and the jackass didnt give it to me. As far as the study guides: find 2 other people and split up the chapter

He does what he can to make the subject interesting. He does well despite the overly large class size. He was very helpful when I approached him about having to miss some class sessions. Will work with any student who makes an effort. Thanks.
