Comment:
Perhaps the worst professor I've ever had. She thinks she knows everything about the subject, and favors students who validate her opinions. She gives a ton of work and readings, and it is all pointless busy work. She is very unclear in her expectations. Most of the learning in this course is around learning what she wants you to say.

I just want to take a minute to talk about her midterm for this class. 3 individual papers that are all graded together. this compilation is worth 25% of our grade and any lateness has been arbitrarily deemed worthy of a 10% grade deduction. Not only do we have this we have had 3 other writing assignments due and other classes... come on

Extremely harsh and unreasonable grader! She has obvious prejudice and preference. The assignments are a nightmare! Never take her class if you don't want your GPA to suffer!!

For someone in the education department, Sandra is a surprisingly BAD teacher. She picks favorites, grades on a bunch of different scales, and assigns tons of pointless busy-work which is too simple and assumes too little of the students. I've never felt more patronized by a professor.

I LOVED Sandy's class. It has completely changed what I am looking for in life. She's a great professor and the subjects she teaches are essential to everyone's own personal growth, as well as helpful in understanding many other disciplines. Her class gave me a lens to see the world. If you are at all interested in Social Justice, it's perfect!

I do not recommend taking this class with Prof Lawrence. The way she conducts class conversation is frustrating, and there is little substantive learning taking place. Lots of readings and many quick writing assignments that are not too time-consuming, but overall just an unpleasant vibe from the instructor. She is extremely difficult to talk with.

I was very excited to take this class before hand... However, Sandra Lawrence is just not helpful, and she has students that she likes more than everyone else and they are the only people who do well. I went into the class think that i was going to love her, everyone on campus says that she is great, but she is the worst prof i have ever had.

She's very nice, but I sometimes feel that she sticks to her own opinions and if yours differ than they're not correct. However, it's a really interesting class and I recommend it!

Comment:
Lawrence has deeply entrenched beliefs about racism and whiteness, and the class is entirely constructed around her own personal opinions. The course's "discussion forum" is a facade: all conversations are manipulated and steered by Lawrence to reach her own predetermined conclusions. She "shuts down" students whose views do no align with hers.

This was by far the best class i have ever taken. THere is a great deal of reading and writing in this class, however it is well worth the effort. Anyone who truelly wishes to extend the effort to examine the dicey issues of whiteness and inequality will love this class. Those who dislike the class simply dislike the amount of work.

I hate Prof Lawrence. She is not helpful at all. She is not clear. She has her favorites in the class and the it is like the rest of us do not exist. I have learned nothing in this class.

I absolutely love Prof. Lawrence. Yes, the class is a lot of work, but she is so understanding and laid back when it comes to turning in assignments. The class itself it the most interesting I've ever taken. She facilitates discussion well and you can tell she really believes in what she is teaching

I believe that she unreasonable expectations for her students. We have learned nothing about the educational system so far. Her class feels like a first-year writing seminar, you learn more about grammer and thesis writing than whiteness and education. She provides little positive feedback.

Sandy is clear and interesting, but not very good at facilitating discussions or listening to students. Sometimes when you ask a question, she will rephrase it to mean something totally different.

Don't listen to anyone else. Sandra is an awesome teacher and she really knows her stuff. Very understanding, and really provokes new thought. This class in general (Whiteness and the Construction of Its Identity) is the best.

Great teacher, and very committed to white anti-**** activism. The class was an eye-opener, and she provides a supportive place to challenge your own racial awareness. Some gradeschool stuff like turning off the lights to get our attention, sorta funny.
