Professor Sylvest is awesome. As long as you pay attention in class and seem interested you will do fine. She is a bit of a rough grader for speeches, but go into her office hours (show her that you care) and she will make sure you do well in the class. I would recommended taking her!

I'm not sure why anyone would talk bad about her, she is the sweetest woman ever! She made classes interesting and we usually got out a little early. Fair grader on speeches, you just have to be prepared. Two group tests, overall easy class. She's very knowledgeable, absolutely take her!

Sandy is like my grandma, she is so sweet i feel like she should be baking cookies. She really knows a lot about what she is teaching. she's hard when it comes to grading speeches, but her tests are a joke-they're group=easy. TAKE HER. barely used the text book.

Relatively easy class. 3 graded speeches, 2 group tests and a final. I hate public speaking but this class made me hate it less. Professor Sylvest is very nice and always willing to help. She is a fair grader and gives extra credit opportunities. Didn't use the text book much except for the final. Overall easy class and professor, take her!

Class is boring and all of you grade is centered around your speechs which could be good or bad based on your personality/ability. She is a nice lady but cant connect with her students. The subject material seems like common sense untill the tests so reading the book and studying are key for the 2 tests.

TAKE HER!!! She is so awesome, great teacher, has a great sense of humor. She is always willing to help you. She allows 2 absences but the class really is not that bad and you usually get out early. The final is not as hard as people say!

Really nice lady, but a little strict when it comes to paying attention in class. Teaches the material through powerpoint, and although textbook readings were assigned, many people got away with not buying the book. Tests are done in groups- make sure the other people actually studied the material. Speeches are difficult if you do not prepare well.

As long as you take the time to prepare speeches with more than just your word as facts, you should do well in this class. Tests are really easy because they're in groups of 4-5 people. Everyone who says this class is hard was probably texting the whole time because it's really not difficult. Just do the work and you'll be fine.

Completely closeminded. She often brought up "difficult" topics to discuss in class, requesting the opinion of anyone willing to share. Unfortunately, my answers were wrong and I was made to be an ignorant person. BE CAREFUL To reveal your political or moral status before you know what a teacher prefers...your grades will suffer

The speeches aren't too bad. The tests are just annoying. They're extremely open ended and subjective, and for appearing so easy, they can bring your grade down. She does let you take them in groups which helps some. She can be pretty vague about assigments and doesn't offer much help, so you're pretty much on your own.
