Comment:
I don't recommend taking this class unless absolutely necessary for transfer credits or something like that. Prof doesn't know how to use Canvas fluently (LOTS of misunderstandings/typos/mistakes). Also, she grades way too hard for the little amount of assignments given. Not really fair. Nice enough lady but just wouldn't recommend this class.

Most REWARDING science course I have ever experienced. I went home every night and thought, re-read, and thought some more (2-4 hrs night). That's the point right? You wouldn't learn if it wasn't challenging. You will be frustrated, you will question, you will seek other perspectives. Sara is there to answer and guide, all you have to do is ask.

Sarah's physics sequence is the absolute best you could ask for in top notch University learning standards. All I can say is that if you can't handle the physics sequence with Sarah, then chances are that you won't be abe to handle handle engineering programs at top notch universities. She helped me get a NASA grant for UW in the A&A department.

Skip physics at WCC. The overwhelming workload will rob you of: ability to attend any other class; a decent gpa to transfer a 4 year that isnt WWU; time to work on extracurricular projects related to your major (engineering portfolio req., even at WWU, 5000 MasteringPhysics problems don't count). Take it at BTC or Skagit, the profs are competent

Her classes are not easy. The tests are unpredictable. However, if you really want to learn physics, you should take her classes, because she is always willing to explain more than what is required in the syllabus. Come to the office hours if you have questions, because it is never a waste of time. Don't miss the class because it is very important.

She can't even make herself clear. Once we had a question in class, and she didn't even figure out the answer. Then she just SKIPPED the question! She talks a lot, but seldom useful. TOO many works are needed for passing this class. If this class is not mandatory for you, don't take it in whatcom. It is probably the hardest.

Welcome to an experience that will challenge you out of your comfort zone. Do not take this course unless you are personally committed to putting in hours of rigorous thinking, not last minute thinking. You must learn to direct your own studies, diagnose some of your own deficiencies. Ask questions, In class &south of class. Learn by practice.

Very unorganized, Lectures are a waste of time, So much HW that you will never get a chance to study. She clearly believes that there is only one way to learn and everyone learns the same way; jugle 10 assignments at any given point and hw to make your eyes bleed. None of this has anything to do with learning physics. DOG IN CLASS every day!

Very ambiguous. Very disorganized. You are required to brown nose. I learned nothing new. If you like getting any sort of feedback, look for it elsewhere. It was sometime after our fifth lab that we finally got our first homework assignments graded and given back. You will do a lot of work without any direction and no feedback. you will feel lost.

Sara has taught me more than any instructor I've ever had. She expects you to take an active interest in your own learning, to read your text and do your homework before class (clearly stated the first day). Learn the material and come to class with questions! Don't expect her to cover everything in lecture. Sara taught me how to think for myself.

avoid the series at wcc if julin is teaching, you are better off taking the classes at another college. not clear at all, very very disorganized and you have to learn on your own. work load is high but that will be the least of your worries. julin also misses class on the regular.Lectures are the worst i have ever had and there is no point to going.

Exams announced with less than a week to prepare, Exams are not scheduled, lectures are truly pointless, 95% of course material is self taught, the amount of work is stupid, not that it's hard, it's just busy work, instructions for assignments are extremely vague and if you ask for clarification you will get a question for an answer, Avoid her.

Easily the most disorganized class I've ever taken part of. There is no clarity on assignments, the lectures are essentially useless (she is asked a question, then answers something totally different), and she always seems to miss class. I almost want to transfer early to avoid her class. I'm very confident the student teacher would teach better.

Sara was probably the most disorganized teacher I've ever dealt with. From the beginning weeks of class I was getting zeros on assignments that she never announced existed. Her lectures are somewhat useless, she honestly doesn't teach anything in class, she rambles on random things and mostly just bounces questions on and off students.

Only class i've ever gotten an A without mastering anything. If you do her massive amount of work and be a brown noser you'll make it through just fine. I learned organization (through sara's disorganized nature) and academic discipline. I would not say I learned physics.

She is very unorganized with lectures and assignments. She constantly makes errors with grading, in solutions manuals, and in the assignments and quizzes she makes herself. Half the work from this class is figuring out what to do and making sure your work isn't affected by one of her mistakes. You will learn physics though. It's just frustrating.

Lectures are very unorganized and class runs 15-20 minutes late everyday. She is also very unorganized with assignments constantly makes errors in grading and solutions. Half the work from this class is figuring out what you need to do and double checking Sara's mistakes. You will learn physics thoroughly, but it is very difficult and frustrating.

I graduated from UW with a Computer Science degree in 2004. The classes I took from Sara at WCC were the most informative, most challenging and most rewarding I've ever had. She is an example of what an educator should be. Her classes are not easy, but if you are willing to step-up, you will be better for having done so.

Sarah is an odd duck. Can rub some the wrong way. She puts the responsibility for learning on the student. Is happy to get questions but will push you to find the answers yourself, can be frustrating. Participation is big with her. Show her you are open to learning and share your thoughts, opinions, etc.
