Comment:
His teaching method isn't for everyone. His lectures are a bit fast, he does examples straight from the book but doesn't explain many details. Book is definitely helpful; hw is optional but recommended. Exams are representative of what's been covered to an extent. If you get confused and tend to ask questions in class, seek the TA or another prof.

Lectures were pointless, professor has an accent, handwriting is illegible and his teaching methods are based on only showing examples which would be fine if his handwriting was readable. Homework not required and attendance was not taken, quizzes were decent but expect to teach yourself the material

His lectures are incomprehensible, his handwriting is illegible, and he doesn't speak English well enough to understand any questions you try to ask him. The good news: he doesn't take attendance, homework is optional, and test and quiz dates are on the syllabus.

Don't ask questions or he will get upset. At chapter 4 be prepared to not understand anything he is doing in the class. Good luck. Class started with about 100 students, we are almost down to about 15 that attend his lectures.

Don't get me wrong he knows his material, but he can't teach to save his life. He says what he wants. There are some people who should just stick to their research and stay away from teaching. You will be teaching yourself the majority of the time. Avg test score was 49% for midterm one and 50 for second midterm.

Awful teacher. hard to read handwriting, and makes more mistakes then anything i've ever seen. there wasn't one class without a mistake. it confuses you and his is hard to follow on the board. you use the book and youtube to learn the stuff. but the book isn't great. Really if at all possible, don't take him.

If you are looking to fully understand the material, do take a class with him. He makes the material very confusing. I taught myself from the book, which was not easy. Ended with an A (with a lot of effort). Do not take this professor if possible.

He is willing to help you in his office, but his lectures are not that great. The grading between him and the T.A. wasn't that fair either. Take someone else if you can.

I really tried to pay attention during lecture, but this guy thoroughly failed at keeping my attention. He speaked in a way that seemed he didn't expect us to be good enough for the class, and repeatedly said things that sounded like he had no self-respect. Ended up trying to teach myself the material, which was hard to do with my schedule.

He's a brilliant man, but his teaching style is utterly incompatible with most students' learning styles. I love math but his class was torturous. I understand that this stuff is probably as simple as adding integers to him, but for people learning it for the first time it's very hard and he doesn't seem to care at all.

The syllabus was followed throughout the semester. Problems were assigned but not collected. Instead, a quiz was given each Friday, which perfectly reflected the h/w problems. A good grade is guaranteed if work is done weekly. I would definitely recommend Professor Friedland to those who have interest in math and are looking for just teaching.

I took 320 with him in the spring. He is a really nice professor. With regards to his tests and exams, I think he is pretty fair. If you do the practice exams assigned you should be okay. However, if you do not like powerpoints, then his teaching style may not agree with you. He is also very funny.

He has a little thing toward Asian. He'll sit right behind me at final like I'm gonna cheat off someone after telling me to move over a couple seat more.He would want us quiet when we're talking in class about his writing. He can't write on board. His note is all over the place.Don't get him if u don't like racial profiling. It'll cause you stress.

This class is like taking language and Math together. If you are aiming for good grade, don't get him, you'll regret it! This cost me a D instead of a C in his class. I gotta retake this class. I'm going with Dale Embers.
