Comment:

Prof. Brandon is the worst professor I have had at the University of Guelph. He mumbles through his lectures which you don't need to attend anyway because his midterms (all three of them) are based almost entirely off of the readings, which he did not inform us of. Avoid his classes at all costs if you value your average and want to learn anything.

Comment:

I didn't mind Professor Brandon at all. Sure he's a little bit quiet but not all profs enjoy public speaking. I attended as many lectures as I could, and sat close to the front, and have gotten high 80s on all tests thus far. The readings are a little intense but he gives you the major questions on the exams a week before, which is more than fair!

He seems to care about and be interested on the subjects he lectures on BUT he mumbles and presents the information in such a way that it becomes boring. As for the tests, I found them easy - read the book, go to the lectures and you'll get easy A's - he's pretty fair in that sense.

Professor Brandon clearly knows his stuff and is passionate about the subject, but I found that his lectures were very difficult to understand because he speaks quickly and has a tendency to mumble. Additionally, class lectures were often cut short for various reasons. Attend lectures for the films and make sure to read the text when you're lost.

Prof. Brandon is not helpful nor a good lecturer. There is no textbook for this course; it is solely based on novels. I read each novel cover to cover and they did not coincide with lecture material. His grading is unrealistic and unfair and his instructions are not clear. This is my first and last course with Prof. Brandon. Avoid at all costs!

The worst professor I have encountered at Guelph. Avoid him at all costs. His teaching assistants are tough graders and just as miserable as him. DO NOT take this course. Waste of time, money and it will bring down your GPA. Lectures are irrelevant to course and expectations are UNCLEAR!!!! A complete waste of time. You will not learn a thing!

The worst prof I have ever had in my university career, his midterms are all based on 300 readings and his lectures are absolutely pointless. He talks to fast and is hard to understand. AVOID CLASSES WITH HIM AT ALL COSTS. Reporting him to be reviewed by the university.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I am a SOC major and needed this course, I am normally very good at sociology and this is my worst university grade by far! He has no desire to help students and is so monotone it makes it sound like he doesn't want to be there. Assignments are confusing and tests impossible. AVOID HIS CLASSES.

Great class, very interesting. He does speak low, but provides detailed answers, which helped prepare for the midterm. Term paper and midterm were straight forward, the final was difficult. Overall great prof.

Such a nice professor. He talks quietly, but if you sit close to the front the content of his lectures are actually very thorough and interesting. He provides exam long answer questions before hand so you can prepare. Overall, great prof and great class!

Worst prof I've had BY FAR. Avoid taking a course with him at all costs. Very rude and unwilling to help. Asked him to clarify a question on an exam and he told me to go away. His TA's are just as lost as the students. Exams are extremely difficult even if you study and do your readings. If you are looking to fail this class is perfect for you.

He is awful. The exams are insanely hard!!! I studied for 3 weeks and still did badly. His final assignment is out of this world. 15 academic sources MINIMUM plus minimum 5000 words, just stupid hard. He also picks the topic for the final assignment, so you have no say. Exams were essay format, and final was 100 MC.

Crim Theory is mandatory for soc students. DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM. He's SO monotone. His tests are RIDICULOUS. He puts zero effort into making a three hour lecture even kind of interesting. He mumbles. It's awful. Just don't.

Most boring lectures I've ever attended. He starts mumbling and doesn't stop until the end of class. He's interested in the material, but doesn't seem interested in teaching. On the upside, his classes are easy. If you go over the readings last minute you'll be fine. Plus, he always gives out the essay questions for exams in advance.
