Hes not a bad guy just his class is extremely difficult he wants you to succeed but is VERY honest that its up to you. Little to no curves and only 4 tests, 1 of which is the final. Extremely difficult class

I can not stress enough how much you should not take this class! Seriously, don't do it to yourself. He made it very clear that he did not take the class or his position seriously. He is unbelievably bad at explaining anything. Refused to directly answer any questions and was not accessible outside of class. Only 4 grades throughout the semester.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! Seriously. I never had a professor who didnt care as much as him and literally if you dont attend you WILL NOT PASS! 3 Tests, A Final, and One Homework assignment. Uses nothing to see where you are in the course and does not explain things very well. I now have to take it over because of him and im a pretty studious individual.

three tests, a final, and one homework assignment. does not have a website that he posts helpful links, powerpoint, practice, etc. Is not helpful when you have a question. Lectures are long and boring, no clarity. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you skip class you won't succeed.

You're going to have to practice the problems and you're going to have to go to class. TEXT DOES NOT HELP. Never went to the tutoring sessions but he's always willing to stay after class AS LONG AS YOU MAKE AN APPT. He goes really fast and it seems like he doesn't care but he does, you just have to show you're proactive. funny but very sarcastic.

He does not care if you pass the class or not. I was glad to take the class because it was not a TA. I was optimistic that I would do well in his class. Now I wish I had used this site before taking his class. He could be a great teacher if he cared about the students passing the course. He missed the mark on making a great impact on his students.

The class was tough. The tests were extremely difficult with a small amount of questions. He surprised us with a curve on a test, thank god.. At the end of the semester he compared your grade in the class and the grade on the final exam and you received the highest of the two. Would not recommend him if you want to actually understand stats.

A lot of people in my class were unhappy. I understood the way he explained things. He was very clear and as long as you were proactive in class you understand it. There wasn't much homework. He knows what he's talking about & always was willing to stay after class to help. He likes to joke with people & relate things to the real world which helps.

Scott is very sarcastic. He'll call you nieve a million times during the semester if you make poor assumptions. A lot of people think his class as well as teaching methods are difficult. He thinks he's funny but not really. Tests are tough if you struggle to follow him. Webwork is only hw, and its a piece of cake. Go to class and pay attention.

Nice guy but not a teacher. Just because he knows Stats (and he does) doesn't mean he can teach it. No notes, no homework. Does not fully explain formulas and leaves parts out. This class is extremely difficult unless you already have a grasp of Statistics. I took his class because he spoke English as a first language. I should have gone elsewhere.

There are 3 tests and the final exam bye the math department, and only 20ish problems of homework the whole semester, attendance doesn't count. He is extremely funny, and explains problems very well. His classes are small, and he is is bye far my favorite math teacher so far; for one who hates math.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! He does not care about his students. Half my class dropped from failing and the half we have now are on the verge of failing. He is very rude and makes fun of you if you ask a question. He does not have a moodle page and will not post notes online. If you don't understand something, too bad because he will not help you!

Worst professor I have had thus far at UNCC. He refuses to post notes, speeds through material, is extremely rude to students and is generally a poor teacher. I had to learn all material by myself and struggled throughout this course.

If you can take another professor please do so. He is short with students, Snaps back if he thinks your question is stupid, and does not allow you to take notes because he moves too fast. Frankly he doesn't seem to care whether you pass or fail. I read the reviews here before taking the class. I should have listened.

Scott is a very funny guy. You have to pay attention to pass his class. I recommend that you do the homework he assigns, yes even the one that's not graded. He tries to teach, sometimes he repeats stuff just so it can stick in your brain. Its a class you have to work towards to pass.

Funny guy that makes a boring class go by quickly. His tests are difficult. He doesn't assign coursework, so it is entirely up to you whether you want to spend time on the material or not. I hate math and struggled a bit with this class, but the professor made it as simple and painless as possible. I'm glad I took stats with him.

Don't pay attention to the critical reviews; Debruhl is teaching a stat class for people who are TERRIFIED of math. STAT 1220-1222 are all the same, and super easy. Debruhl does a great job explaining things, I was shocked people didn't get it. It is irksome that he doesn't post the notes online, but honestly you don't need them. Would take again.

Clarity is horrible, moves entirely to fast through the power point material. If you are not a math person then I strongly recommend you find another professor! I don't bother asking him questions after class anymore, he is useless, you might as well be teaching yourself...& I'm sure no one pays college tuition & fees to teach themselves.

As a graduate student only taking this class as a pre-requisite, this guy moves entirely too fast, leaves out key notes to solving problems, won't show you calculator shortcuts for most of the problems (my tutor did!) Class average was 65 on second test and 58 by the third. It's not your fault. He's a terrible professor. Take at CPCC if you can.

He moves too fast with material, attempts to make his students look stupid in asking a question or venturing ahead. I've lead a study group for his class this semester and they say I teach it better than he does... And that's after spending 20+ hours in the library studying the information independently. STAY AWAY.
