Comment:

Hummel is pretty easy if you study for the tests. Plenty of work required, but the work itself isn't that difficult. He loves outlines, and if you have a good memory and/or the willingness to study, you should do fine. Anyone complaining about him is significantly off-base.

All classes by this professor are exceptionally hard. If you are taking nothing but core Jr/Sr level engineering classes...you will spend as much time with a single bible class from him, as you will with all your other classes combined.

Tough teacher. And it is not fair to make the students give devos over the reading for the day. God will let the students know what to say. For all Dr. Hummel knows God has something He wants a student to say,if Hummel denies the student of sharing that Hummel will miss what God has for him to hear.

Nice guy. VERY hard classes. Old Test. is very rough, you will read the ENTIRE O.T. and be responsible for knowing it. Prof is clear, there's just too much material for one semester.

I took a lot of Hummel's classes and though he would not just hand out grades, he always gavre the grade I deserved for my work. I also went to Turkey with him and just had a lot of fun. His job is to teach, but damn if that will stop him from having fun!

i hear that dr. hummel is really hard as a teacher. i went on the greece trip/class with him and found it really easy. total immersion kinda causes that though i think. neat guy and good teacher.

I'm a Bible major so I have to take lots of Hummel classes. I have found that initially, yes, Dr. Hummel was difficult but as I've been taking his classes more and more, it's been getting easier due to the fact that I know what to do! Overall he's great!

Although Dr. Hummel is very smart, he isn't the most helpful person on the planet. He also keeps a list of unstated (and therefore unclear) expectations for his assignments, of which his students are not made aware until *after* getting their grades.

Very very smart man. His grading can be unfair sometimes - there is not a large enough gap between well crafted work and poorer quality work. He also expects non-Bible majors to know too much - you will work your a$$ off.

A very good, knowledgeable teacher, in my opinion; if you study his outlines and read what's assigned (though it comes in large volumes), you're guaranteed a good grade. He may expect a lot from you, but hey, what else did you expect from college?
