Comment:
For a class called Great Journalism, Lauder sure does a lot of journalism bashing. He thinks everyone in our generation is stupid. A horribly condescending and pathetic person. He's not THAT old but complains like my 90-yr-old grandma. Take his course if you want to hear how all journalists (except those studied) are worthless. Books are good tho.

At first he's entertaining, then you realize he's going play quirky the entire semester. He's a bitter man with a one-sided view, and hates students that contradict his ideas. He regularly implies the class is lazy and ignorant, and even told us that we're reluctant to read and learn (which caused more than a few students to react negatively).

Watch out for this class!Scott lauder is always right, you are always wrong. He says you are welcome to your own opinion but pretty much only if its the same opinion as his. Has trouble spitting out sentences unless berating someone or insulting them. Complete waste of my time!!!!!!!

Excellent readings and the prof has interesting anecdotes and a great depth of knowledge of the material. BUT, the class is 6 hours a week and NOONE participates and no activities are involved. This is a grad class for most. The last thing anyone came to j-school for was to rot in a lecture for a sixth year.

Scott has a great love and enthusiasm for the material, and it shows. He doesn't like it when students get off his message, but he'll respond if they show interest. I think many students who call the course a waste of time simply don't like to read and discuss literature, which is a shame.

Comments like "I am getting paid for what I love to do." are great, but I felt that students were a burden and call on his time. Are we all the enemy?

This was the biggest waste of time of my whole life. He spent the semester telling anecdotes about the authors, and then said "Okay, for the exam, you need to know style, tone and context of content." That's crap. Teach it if we're supposed to k
