Comment:
Mr. Perry was the worst math teacher I have ever had. He was condescending and made even the smartest students feel small and ashamed for ever asking a question. He was extremely nitpicky about everything, he would grade down for things like "equal signs didn't line up" even if you had the correct answer to the questions. Do not take his class!

Without a doubt the worst class I have ever taken. I should have known the first day when he made a girl cry for explaining a problem to a girl sitting next to her. Having a math background myself, I still nearly failed the class. I would get at least 9 out of the ten questions right on every test but still fail because I didn't use his format. SOS

I didn't do great in the class because I'm not very good at math, but Perry is a great teacher, with very clear expectations. I never did the homework, but if you do all the homework, and show up to class and take clear notes exactly how he writes them you will do great in the class.

I found Perry to be extremely irritating. Would highly recommend avoiding his classes, even if you're good at math. No credit for homework, vague-yet-specific documentation, study guides were USELESS, and felt embarrassed to ask questions or struggle in class. Not supportive to the learning process at all which is crucial for math.

Do yourself a favor and find another teacher. He is passive aggressive and does not do a good job explaining. I think you would be better off learning from the text book. You really do have to work for your grade, which is a good lesson in its self.

Perry was my favorite math prof at PCC. (Hence taking his classes two terms in a row.) Yes, you do need to attend class to pass, but that's because these are two of the most difficult lower level math classes, and he'll admit it. He believes in in-class group work, goes over any hw questions the class has, and encourages his students to do well.

Perry is an amazing math instructor. I honestly don't see why he has such terrible reviews. I guess it's because not enough people really know how to adapt to such material. Crystal clear on everything, and willing to help you on any problem that you encounter. It's a shame that this is his last year teaching.

If you love doing math and want to continue pursuing this path whether your are or not, re-consider yourself very carefully by reading other people's rating before committing this class. I highly regret only by looking the latest one.

Mr. Perry is an excellent teacher, but the course was still fairly difficult. He does not use the textbook and you must print out all the study notes for class. He has a good sense of humor and is very helpful. He is fairly pick about math department formatting.I highly recommend this teacher for hard working students.

As has been said his online lecture notes are useless if you miss class. He came across as very condescending. He lectures at a fairly fast pace and doesn't like to go back or stop. While homework is optional you really need to do it to learn anything at all. He is the kinda teacher that just couldn't care less if you pass or not.

He's a pretty nice guy, but his teaching method was hard to follow. He gives very wordy definitions from the book and doesn't explain them very thoroughly. He goes off of his slides in class, but he works very quickly and won't slow down or go back. He is condescending and very harsh in grading, especially on formatting. I would not recommend him.

Scott seems like a nice guy, but that's the only positive thing I can say. I had to drop his class, it was hard to understand his lectures. There were little hands on exercises and rarely one on one help. This style may work for some, but not me.

He doesn't follow the book and does not provide answers to his slides so if you miss class you're kinda screwed as he's not available and his office hours are only from 7am to about 8am if you're lucky to catch him there. This course is setup 4 failure and his teaching spirit is in the form of punishment. DO NOT TAKE MATH FROM GUY!

Before taking any class, I would read the instructor's ratings and take that with a grain of salt. By far, Scott Perry is the BEST instructor I've ever had, bar none! He's teaching methodology is all on power points and very simple to follow. His exams are based on his lectures. Take great notes and you'll do fantastic.

He was not helpful at all and made countless mistakes in his lectures. You actually can learn quite a lot in his class but you need to SUPER pay attention to do so. I had 112 with him and it was very stressful. It really seemed like he was wanting us to fail and many kids in my class did.

Condesending, unhelpful, assumes everyone is going into engineering, he expects 300 lvl class documentation in a 100 lvl class. I wouldn't recommend him as a teacher,he knows his stuff he's just horrible at teaching it. He spends more time talking down to students and tossing around passive agressive threats than teaching.

scott perry was great. i think a lot of people in my class just wanted to be told what do, and not have to actually THINK and solve the problem. if you ask him to solve it for you, he will say "can't help you", yes, but thats because he wants you to try and figure it out with your brain!

I dropped this class because I had a very hard time with the teacher's person. I have a rule that I should stick it out regardless of the professor's personality but I just couldn't see eye to eye with him. He definitely knows his stuff. I'm smart but the way he talks to me makes me feel dumb. I know it is half my problem, just saying.
