Dr. Stanfield is one of my favorite professors on campus. He is extremely well-read, but always interested in learning from his students. His witty comments will catch you off guard and he always brings ginger snaps to the last day of class. For sure find a way to get into one of his classes!

Dr. Stanfield is the wind beneath my wings. He makes you really think about what you're reading and openly encourages you to come at it from different angles when trying to understand it or write about it. He is always helpful if you ask, and he as a person, is truly genuine and caring for his students and all people. What a gem of a professor.

Comment:
Do not take your Masterpieces of Literature gen ed with this professor! The class is so dull, boring, & repetitive. The class is all discussion based, however the professor does a poor job of starting or facilitating it. The books are not interesting to read and write about. The professor lacks personality that would make the class more enjoyable.

Dr. Stanfield is a genius on many levels that can relate to his students and address any subject. After two classes with him, I've learned that he is well adept to handling any topic and discussing it to its potential. His classes are very discussion based and lets you get involved (or not if you just don't talk). I completely recommend him!

Throw a dart at the cannon - Dr. Stanfield's not only read it, but can discuss it extensively. If you are serious about trying to crack Pound, Elliot, Yeats, Wyndham Lewis...he can relate the most esoteric to a level that yes, even you, can grasp. He carries his genius quietly+he's a gifted musician and writer, catch him playing live sometime!

Pretty much the standard by which all quality professors should be judged: Is exceedingly well read, very accessible, supremely intelligent without swagger, and can friggin rock out. Literary genius, absolute stud, and very good friend. His standards are high - and so should yours - don't bring anything punk to the game or you'll be stuffed.

Comment:
He knows something about his narrow area of interest but is an arrogant jerk. He loves to drop names of people at big schools who swoon over his genius. One wonders why he's not at Northwestern! Massage his ego; get a good grade. Don't expect much coverage in his classes. He turns questions about something he doesn't know into something he does.
