An easy, fun class. I found it hilarious that everything was multiple choice - really, he could work on his laziness. Multiple choice is not the best way to test biological concepts, but I found that it was okay in an intro course. I found it interesting, fun, and easy! He's not nearly as bad as all of these people make him out to be.

Loved Biol100, got 90%. Hated BIOL101. Unhelpful, unclear and useless. Cannot beleive he accused the class of cheating and made everyone over 80% rewrite. Unfair and fixed in his ways. He really won't help you unless you are a plant since that is his only joy in life

After he accused the class of cheating, he rewrote the exam. To which no one scored above a 90%, which he pointed out in glee and at least 40 people failed it. Hope this guy gets fired

Great lectures. You learn a lot from this prof, if you invest any time studying the material. There was nothing unanswerable about the midterm - he just wanted people to do more than spit back force-fed information. The questions simply required a little inference on our part. He could have asked harder ones.

WOW,DO NOT TAKE THIS TERRIBLE guy I am an90 average student and this punk thought it would be funny to give out some zeros on the midterm and accuse people of cheating... Ya he is neither clear, helpful, consise, or fair. Take bio from the FNU or move to Alberta. Oh and the text is useless. No notes on webct, and to be honest, his midterm was easy.

he's a horrible teacher. his tests are multiple choice and half of the multiple choice wasn't covered in class. The semester I was in he accused the students of academic misconduct based on "statistical analysis". He gave out zero's on the midterm and made students rewrite a new exam based on the assumtion that the students cheated. I would suggest

Well, now I know never to take ecology, since Scotty teaches it. He doesn't even make his own tests, he uses pre made question from the text, and doesn't cover all the material required. However he does cover an extensive amount of material you wont be tested on. If you have to take biology 101, I would almost suggest transferring.

He is very monotone while lecturing, however, I learned a lot from his class. His tests are multiple choice with life cycles for short answers. Study!! I would take a class from him again in a heartbeat. He's tough, but you'll learn a lot. Also, don't waste money on the text, you don't need it. If you take good notes, you're fine.

it appears that he is afraid of computers..he doesnt use web ct...i found that it was extremely easy to study for his tests because he always summarized his lectures awesomely..i wish every teacher did this...some people hated him because if start talking he stares at you awkardly but i would recomend him even though i like to talk in class

Very bad teacher. Barely uses the text and just writes what he wants when he wants making note taking and organization very hard. If you miss a note in class, you're not going to ever get it because he doesn't use the internet or answer your e mails. By far the worst teacher I have ever had (and I have profs who barely speak English).

Lectures were decent but didn't really relate to the exam. READ THE TEXTBOOK, and do the multiple choice from the text/website. Know your life cycles inside out. Prof not helpful at all. Don't bother asking a question; he'll just tell you to read the text. This prof totally turned me off biology.
