The class is super hard. That said, I think Prof. Z did an awesome job explaining the concepts. He drops a ton of points at the end of the semester, and he bumped you up to the higher grade if you were close. I loved his humor and thought he was really fair in his grading. I worked my butt off and got an A- in the class.

Dr. Z is a good teacher. The concepts just are hard - it's not because he doesn't explain well. He has a good sense of humor and he does let you drop an exam & quiz points. That said, it IS a hard class. I highly recommend doing the book work (before class). It takes a lot of time but helps you understand everything.

Dr. Zimmerman is impossible. There is no way I could ever take another class from him. Yeah he's nice but when he lectures he makes no sense. He doesn't do any experiements. It really is aweful.

Dr. Zimmerman is nice. But, he is very confusing in class, does not prepare students very well for quizzes and tests, and often has typos or other mistakes on his slides and exams which lead students astray. Upside: he drops the lowest test score and several quiz scores. Be prepared to work hard to wade through the confusion that is his class.

Work hard for a not so good grade. He tells you to study certain sections for a quiz and then quizzes you on something else. Impressed me least out of my Professors so far at BYU, it's my last semester. I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt but he lost it every time. He teaches by testing a concept, he doesn't teach the tricky stuff first. Yo

Zimmerman grew on me as the semester went on. He's really funny, and let's you drop an exam and some quiz points. He can be confusing at times, but he really tries to help. The material is freaking hard- you'll have to study constantly, but it's possible to do well if you keep up. But if you fall behind, you'll die. (Trust me, it's not fun.)

Zimmerman is hilarious! The work isn't too bad, and he just makes you laugh most of class time. Good teacher, with a random sense of humor that you can't help but laugh at!

Zimmerman is a great guy, but not the best teacher. His slides had alot of mistakes (I think it was his first semester teaching 105). Half of the TAs aren't that great, get Geoff or the Russian. I worked my tail off (and neglected all of my other classes) to get a decent grade. (Take 105 from Wood!)

Worst 50 minutes of my life every other day. Zimmermas cannot answer his own questions and often does problems on the board wrong. His tests do not correlate to the practice tests because he gives practice tests that correlate to a different book. At the end of the semester, there was 1 'A' in the class of 235 or so. DO NOT TAKE 101 FROM THIS MAN!!

Do the homework and go to class everyday to get the quiz points. The class was ok, but lectures were kind of boring when he didn't do experiments. I agree, Geoff Bean is the best recitation leader, mine confused me more than helped me and I probably wouldn't have gone to recitation if I didn't have to turn things in and take the quizzes.

lectures are so boring i didnt get anything out of them. the only reason i would go would be to do the miniquizzes, and i didnt get those right half the time. be prepared to teach yourself everything. there was a mistake on every 7 slides. Get Geoff Bean as your TA- hes the only one that knows anything. I studied my tail off and and did mediocre

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM ZIMMERMAN!! I took Chem in high school and did fine. I am working my butt off now and have a C-. He puts trick questions on the test. When he works out problems on the board he gets the wrong answer 1/2 the time, but still expects his students to understand how to do it. This class sucks!

DON'T TAKE FROM HIM!!! His tests are impossible because he likes to throw questions in there that he never taught to improve our critical thinking! Then he gives daily quizzes on stuff he hasn't taught yet. I had the #1 grade in my Chem class in highschool and I am getting a low B in this class and studying my butt off!

He had a bad sense of humor, but that made it funny. He did cool experiments, and sometimes he got confused because of typos and stuff on the power points, but otherwise he knew what he was talking about and made it interesting and understandable for me.

He is very knowledgeable and a nice guy, but the class is chemistry so it's hard. It's possible to get an A- or B+ (w/out much previous knowledge) if you read the book, do all the homework problems (understand the concepts), memorize most of the slides, and have a great TA. Lectures are composed of slides and a few fun chemistry demonstrations.

He is a very nice person and interesting most of the time. The only problem I had was he would give daily quizzes on homework the night before. The homework we were given was to help us in lecture the next day but if you didn't understand it you failed the quiz which really kills your grade. He also had problems with having correct answers.
