I love Sean. He is not only helpful, but approachable. If you're ****ing about him, its because you're the student that didn't make the effort throughout the year to attend all your classes, prep your work, and actually LISTEN to what he has to say. Hes a hardass - for sure. Because he knows you're better than the crap you produce.

Sean seems to be a fair marker and talking to him one on one can be helpful and he acts nice, but is still the worst and laziest prof I've ever had. Definitely not Huron material, thank god he's leaving.

Sean Mulligan is an amazing professor, who can easily keep a class captivated and entertained. It is easy to develop a crush on a man like Sean, who is so funny, mature, yet sensitive. I have no problems approaching him with anything, and love attending his class. He is a brilliant man and prof, and should be treated as such.

Professor Mulligan is a good professor with some weak points. Yes, he does reuse material from other people and applies the same stories and 'thought experiments' to different lessons but he is fair and entertaining. This is now my third class with him in two years and it is easy to see that he doesn't let anyone see the real person, but he's good.

Egotistical, Megalomaniac, pompous. Went from one of my fav profs to least upon realizing that his way of engaging the class is by making up stories. Not only that but he would repeat them. Over and over. I had him for Philo 020 too so I would end up hearing to same off topic story 4 or 5 times over. Not hard to get an 80 but very hard to excel.

Mulligan was a very good teacher and his lectures were fascinating. as much as i think he is great at what he does, it takes forever to get things back. it usually takes a hell of a lot longer than any time estimate he gives in class with regards to assignment returns.i still recommend this course but be prepared to wait for your tests and essays.

Sean is the best professor at Western hands down. He puts so much effort into his lectures and tries to make them interesting and funny. In order to do well, you have to go to class, but his IDS class was a pleasure to attend. Some people do not like him, but i have no idea how this can be. He is easy to approach in his office.

i am currently is sean's interdisciplinary studies class at huron. sean is a wonderful professor who makes lectures interesting with lots of information and frequent jokes. he is a fair marker, and gives very fair exams. if you listen in class and are not disruptive, i see no reason for him not to like you. keep up the great work!

I would like to completely disagree with everyone who said that Sean is a terrible prof. CLEARLY they are mad. Prof Sean is not only helpful, but makes lectures interesting with little anecdotes and jokes. He makes it clear at the beginning of the year that readings are mandatory and I would say class is optional. Great Course! Great prof!

Comment:
This was a terrible class, primarily because of his teaching style. Sean's lectures have nothing to do with the material at hand and are primarily used as a vehicle for him to riff on notions of his own "brilliance." I'm a history major, and even I got sick of him giving irrelevant historical details about every single aspect of the course.

if you are looking for an interesting MIT course.. don't take this one... this course has nothing to do with MIT.. in fact the teacher is not even a MIT teacher...this class is more about philosophy. It is not an easy course and the teacher pretends to be your friend when really he doesn't care at all, he is more interested in his own stuff.

This guy is a pompous ass who is full of himself. He actually wore a gladiator outfit on Halloween. Who does that other than someone who's desperate for attention? If you actually know philosophy, you'll see that his lectures are filled with pseudo-intellectualism and he just recycles things from other people as passes it off as his own thoughts.

He must be a Scorpio. Only a scorpio can be so nice and then turn around and sting you when you least expect it. Easy-going, but don't cross him, he won't forget. Let's you think you know him, but he never reveals his true self. Not to anyone. A pleasure to chat with. Plays fair when it comes to marks. You have earned it or you haven't.
