I took this as a web course and everything was in a seperate file and so spread out all over the place, it took forever to find the file she was referring to in your current notes and then you had to dig through 5 other files to figure out the homework problems. I barely made it out of this class passing because of the whole term being so rough.

I thought her online class was very organized. She responded promptly to my emails and discussion postings, sometimes within a few hours. But don't take her class if you need someone to hold your hand. The class is challenging, but worth it.

First, taking stats online is a bad idea, period! Second, Ms. Coates is a HARD teacher so you must put in your full effort. And last, she is not real good at giving positive feedback and focuses on the negative. And, she usually takes a few days to respond to email which, in an online class, can make or break a student. Beware!

I took Math 243 and 244 from Coates. I liked the way her online courses were organized. Word to the wise: don't take her classes if you don't have time to put into them. I got an A's in both classes but worked my butt off for them.

Grade based on 2 projects, 1 midterm,& final. Did lots of in-class examples. If you write what she writes on the board, projects are easy. Allows 8x10 note card for each test. Make a good note card based on examples given in class and don't blow off the projects and you should be able to get an A in the class.

Calculus I&II were easier. Teacher put too much emphasis on using excel & textbook for the entire class then on the final you can't use a book or a computer, entirely calculator based. She overwhelms you with examples (at least 5-10 2 pg exp for each chapter) that you are expected to read along with the reading, the powerpoint, etc.Learned little.

Sharon did request that we call her Mrs. Coates. That was probably the only thing that really annoyed me about her. She was fair, clear, helpful, and knowledgeable. She had in-class assignments and homework that allowed you to understand how she would grade the final (which is the only scored item - and that kinda sucks). Very solid teacher.

Took Math 243 from Mrs. C. Summer term. I've had some online duds, but her class was the best! She furnishes lots of examples, and answers your questions right away. Very organized and involved. Didn't think much of the text though.
