Amazing instructor! She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate. With that being said she is a tough grader & assigns tons of reading. essays & tests count for majority of your grade. Email or drop in for her office hours & she will explain everything you don't understand. Highly recommend her if don't mind actually trying, not the easiest A.

This professor lectures on a lot of things but still pretty clear on what she wants you to know for the exam. Exam in bluebooks and you need to prepare like 3-4 essay questions at home. Read the material before class to be more on top of it. Not much assignments except exams which means you have to do good on those to get an A.

Although she makes lectures fun, and you learn a lot, she is by far the toughest professor I've ever had! LOTS OF READING! 4 in-class/online seminars and 3 essay papers based on the text book and additional readings, and 3 TOUGH exams! She makes sure you understand the material! You're gonna work hard for an average grade! I hope you like reading!

Honestly I tried really hard in this class because I wanted to. She's a great teacher and is really passionate about what she teaches. Reading is a must or you will not pass. Her test questions are based off reading that she doesn't always lecture on. You're expected to have read the book. 3 papers and 3 essay exams so get ready to write!

Lots of reading and not much of readings explained or clarified in lecture. She is a very tough audience to write for which is especially frustrating because even the exams include in class essays. Most rigorous class I've taken during all four semesters.

Very inspiring & passionate professor. She expects reading before each class, and participation of discussion for given subjects. Easy grader if studied as suggested. Requires some essay writing on assignments and on test. She will give a good history lecture with bonus of critical thinking skills.

To people who say she's a tough grader, i haven't done history since HS in 08 and got all 90s on her papers, make your point clear back it up and don't summarize. good teacher, she summaries chapters during lectures, read the book chapters on the stuff and you'll pass, she gives out test study guides. And there's never any HW just lectures n tests

She knows her history. Tough grading when it comes to essay questions. Class is enjoyable she lectures the whole time. Read the book and pay close attention to FINE details during her lectures. If you are not sure of something make sure you ask for clarification even if it seems dumb. She likes it when students participates. RIGHT!!!!

I'm a history major so I think she took a special interest in what I had to say and let me speak up in class. Most of the people in my class had trouble, literally because they we're paying attention or didn't read. I put little effort in this class and got a B. I really enjoyed going to class and was sad when it was over. I'd take this class again

Shauna is a fabulous teacher. She's funny, sarcastic, foul mouthed and extremely educated. She expects you to work and study and ask for help when necessary. It's a college class so you have to do your part. 3 exams of which the essays are worth 75% of the grade. She gives study guides so prepare and you'll do well.

Show up and take notes adn you'll pass easily. You don't NEED the book, but I recommend it heavily. The assignments are totally separate from the lectures, and require outside work. Her lectures can digress a little, but they help keep the class entertaining, especially if its a night class like I have. One of my favorite professorss ever.

I love her and I miss her already. She is super funny. I stopped reading the main text and haven't suffered because of it- Class participation is a MUST. DO NOT USE YOUR CELLPHONE or she will kill you. She gives a lot of feedback on essays- Seems to actually care about our success.

Great prof.! she knows her stuff and has very entertaining comments to add, makes it fun, and makes you look at history from a totally unexpected view. Hard class, must be a strong writer. You will read the whole text book! The book she uses can jump around and be confusing, thats the only negative. Be on time, be prepared and you will be ok!

Very inspiring teacher. She would demand a lot from the assignment but somehow she graded them very easy. Not a class for those who want an easy A. However she managed to keep my undivided attention for 3 hours with her humor and crude jokes. Definitely recommended for those who advocate open-minded critical thinkers.

Shauna is hands down my favorite teacher. She has an amazing sense of humor she knows her stuff and she makes a boring class like history fun. Her grading is tough but she lets you know what she wants. If you can't handle sarcasm don't take her class but if you can you'll have a ball.

She definately picks her favorites and can be downright rude to those who aren't. It's not a bad class but not for the easily offended. We had 3 papers, and 3 tests. She gives realy good feedback on written material. She's hard to follow during lecture though because she jumps around a lot but she tests from the reading. Do all the homework!

I don't think anybody could be more qualified to teach this class than Dr. Mulvihill. She is knowledgeable, passionate, and saucy. Grade was mostly based on three essays and three essay exams, but she pretty much tells you exactly what she wants so if you actually answer the questions you should be fine. Loved the class.
