She tries very hard. she is fairly passive which sometimes makes it appear that she is a pushover which backfires on people who attempt to make use of this illusion. she's brilliant and can teach u anything she knows; however, the material she covers isn't always easy. u need to work with her. friendly, mostly, and quite fair. good prof

CHST 2503 Issues in Child Studies. So you would expect to learn about ISSUES & CHILD STUDIES right? Wrong. All you learn, in this class is academic learning and reading. Takes attendance in lectures. Umm ok? This should be a first year class that is optional. The textbook has nothing to do with children all about academic success. Lame. DO NOT TAKE

Nice person but so disorganized! Most the course spent studying academic skills which was completely irrelevant for the subject. Overall unclear and classes were repetitive and scattered. Course was disappointing.

Useless prof. Learnt nothing in the entire term. Speaks down to students like children, Repeats herself, doesn't follow own syllabus, makes many mistakes, avoids answering questions, extremely disorganized. prepare for food stains on all your work and extreme lack of structure. terrible prof.

I took Dr Parlow's 2nd year "intro to developmental psych" class over 10 years ago. I loved the class (subject wise) but to this day I'll never forget her statement "... My name is Doctor Parlow, I've earned it".

It is definitely a tough class. But it is worth it! Just if you really like kids and you are willing to invest many hours reading about a single topic.

Tough, hard. Better have a thick skin with this prof. If you do, then you may prosper above and beyond usual.

Hard prof, but really really prepares you for your thesis year. She is also very nice and very supportive of her students success. A little "tough love" goes a long way.

Really easy to approach, eager to help. Very intelligent. Course was very directed toward her personal interests, which was frustration at times, but she tried to direct it more toward the students when we asked.

For a child studies class, I think I learned NOTHING about children that I didnt already know before coming to this university. She didnt even know anything about what she was teaching us about. And half the stuff she wrote, and couldnt explain it. It was frustrating, and mind boggling. Her marking scale is not valid and certainly not fair.

She really loads on the work, and she's really disorganized. BUT she's also super willing to help her students out, and does anything she can to make sure you're doing well. So if you can keep yourself organized instead of relying on the prof to do it for you, you'll be fine in her class.

This prof is very personable and easy to talk to. However, she manages to complicate even the simplest of tasks. If you're looking for clarity, RUN. If your looking for complicated crazy making, SIGN UP for one of her courses. I recommend the former.

Nice person, but very disorganized. Makes simple tasks difficult because of her lack of organization and inability to give clear direction. My experience can be summed in one word: CHAOS.
