She is a really good lecturer and she posted a lot of the materials she draws on the doc cam after class. She does go into a lot of details that she won't possibly ask from students (Everything needed is basically on the slides) but if you put in some work, it's not that hard. They allow a single note sheet for the exams which is REALLY helpful.

She speeds through her lectures so it's hard to take notes or comprehend the material and then ends the lecture 30 minutes early.

Shona definitely one of the best profs I had! Her labs for this class was fairly simple and straightforward ( and lots of food)! She's very flexible, has a great sense of humour and her knowledge on plants just amazes you! One major projectreport and minor quizzesassignments here and there that are straightforward as well. Overall a great class!

Excellent prof. I had very little interest in the subject manner prior, but she kept the course very interesting. Apart from that, she's a great coordinator for the program. Handled my complicated transfer with a great deal of patience and professionalism.

One of the best professors I've had in my 5 years of undergrad. Really makes you care about the material you're learning, even if you're not that interested in the course to begin with. I'd run through a brick wall for her if she asked me to.

Really interested in what she does, and awesome to listen to in Lecture. Tests are lengthy but lab tests are made easier by studying the pictures posted on Vista under the Labs section.

Shona is passionate about teaching and always willing to help out her students. She mades the material easy to understand and helps students with memory tricks. She uses student's study questions for exams so we always know what to study. She listens to feedback and is my favourite prof at UBC!

She was... intriguing. Very committed to the course, lab, updating WebCT, involving students in volunteer projects. Very grateful to her for that, but that being said the labs were torturous (maybe just because I hate labs), the exams very difficult, and she def. plays favourites. Still she makes an effort to know the students and that's admirable

Shona is a really nice lady who really cares about students. She was in charge of the lab for Biology 209 and she did a really good job. The exams for the lab are relatively tough, but I guess that is the nature of the course.

Shona is a very enthusiastic lab instructor, and goes to great trouble to maintain her WebCT site. She will even use student photos of particularly good slides and works hard to learn names and make the labs interesting. Shona is a wonderful woman, very approachable, friendly, and energetic. Oh, and she brings treats to labs.

Her lab is unbelievably boring, the only good thing about it is the cookies. Her lab instructor didn't know what he was doing most of the time and was unable to answer questions.

Shona's class is ENTIRELY about memorization, and you don't even learn any of the lab skills she's supposed to teach. She clearly has favourites and is much more helpful to people who suck up embarassingly.

Shona is truly a wonderful prof...she made me look at plants when I never did before. Her good spirit was reflected in her team of TA's. She took time and care with webct, and smiled in a totally unpretentious way even when you were dicking around. Nice lady, great teacher, you learned a lot without knowing it.
