Lectures are copied from the textbook. Almost weekly quizzes and computing assignments. Quizzes are based on homework questions. Midterm was hard. Class average: 44%. Final was ok.

His midterm was designed to basically be impossible to finish in the 50 minutes given but his final was very fair (took questions straight from hw/quizzes). His lectures focus a lot on theory/proofs but he tests largely on application making his lectures at times pointless to even attend. Overall nice guy but expect to work hard.

This guy assigns 50 questions a week for homework ( questions are not handed in but tested on) midterm average was something like 11/25. avoid him.

his lectures are very unclear and monotone, midterm and assignment are super difficult, and final is "Hall Of Fame" (if you play NBA 2K, you know what I mean). The worst part is he didn't do any curve or scale, which makes over 50% failing the class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Expected a better grade, a bit surprised. But he made the course easier on us, work wise, and we learned the important stuff. Isn't too strict about the cheat sheet, which is nice cause it resulted in less memorizing. Not the best comunicator, Ralf W. is better, but he's still good enough to learn well from.

This guy is amazing , Lectures are the key to the exams, Midterm was easy but final a little bit tricky! Although I didn't get an A in Math 310 but I'm sure that he scaled at least 2 letter grades. Just take any courses with him and boost up you GPA..

Math 310 is definitely a hard course but Steve makes it easier than what other people say about math 310. Steve is on time, prepared and clear. His assignments are a little bit hard but still doable and fair, however, his midterm is very easy and straigh forward. His final is harder than midterm or it is just tricker. Overal he is a good proff.

If you have to take MACM 316, Steven Ruuth is THE MAN! He takes what would have otherwise been a dry and hellish GPA killer into an interesting and enjoyable class. He is one of - no, he IS the best prof I have had at this university. I can't say enough good things about this prof!

Great teacher. Lectures are very useful. Midterm was easy, but final was kinda tough. Assignments were fair, and marking was very fair. Only issue is that he teaches by going through pre-written slides, which isn't the best method for a math class.

The best professor for MACM 316. Easy midterm, fair final, and relatively easy assignments (all from book). VERY fair marker as well. Definitely recommended over other profs teaching this course (guaranteed pass). A++

Smart guy, tests aren't too difficult and homework isn't weekly. My only issue is he does his lectures by going through pre-written slides. For a math class, this is far less effective than working through examples and writing them on the fly, at least I think. Textbook is only good for formulas, terrible for explaining things.

Excellent. Teaches well, knows his stuff, marks fairly. The textbook is horribly confusing if you're not a math-whiz so find a replacement (I did and it helped).

Pretty good prof. The volume of course material is massive, especially in the second half of the course, though depth is limited and homework/test coverage is quite sparse. His tests have low totals though,(MT was /19) so don't miss too many marks!
