Class wasn't that hard, but mandatory, in a big auditorium, and VERY boring lectures. Grade consists of 4 quizzes, 4 papers, and a final. I really like history, but i found this class taking much more effort than it should have. Take another professor if you can. it's doable, but again, it's much more effort than it's really worth.

This teacher is so hard. He gives you an essay every other week and his lectures are boring. His quizzes are short answer and you have to memorize a list of 40 or more people/events to even have a chance at a good grade on the quizzes. Class is mandatory, and you will be sorry if you take his class.

Lectures are boring, try to not get this class early in the morning, I always had trouble keeping my eyes open. Essay topics are pretty easy, you dont really need the book until test time. Gives a pop quiz about every other class, just pay attention and you will be fine. he sends around a sign in sheet every class there isn't a quiz.

I think it's funny that everyone is saying he's hot. He's not unattractive or anything, it's just amusing. Anyway, pretty straight forward class, he made the subject come alive and was very interesting. I would recommend him to those who want to work. I had DeZwart for AMH2010, and I got an A. I will probably get a B in this one, but he was better.

This man loves his job and has a true interest in your learning. You will take weekly a quiz on the material online anywhere and time you want. I used the book, but he'll never know. The books (3 of them) are very useful, so dont try to be cheap. There are weekly 500 word essays and a 1000 word one. Do your busy work and you will be fine!!

nice guy. he is funny, and knows his stuff. plus, he's pretty hot. if you need his help, he will be there when you need him. class is pretty tough, though, especially the research paper. But it's fun to work on, especially the researching part.

He is animated for sure. Knows his information. Paper topics are quite in depth. Loves debates in class and likes to get into them. Must Read Material before class if you want to get anything out of the class and pass the quizzes. 3 papers,a midterm, and a final are your grades.

Run away. He isn't clear on what he wants from you. There is an insane amount of reading but some of the books are actually interesting. He tries a bit to hard to make you think. Also his tests are killers. I suggest taking a different teacher.

very challenging class with lots of reading. 4 books one thats 500 pages,library work,daily essay readings off of website, 4 movies to watch outside of class.2 papers that were like 4 pages long based on books,and midterm and final. oh man! but regardless he is great prof that is intelligent and witty and we have great discussions. If you're serious about learning history and want to be challenged, take his class. If you just want an easy A, look elsewhere. What I love about him is that he treats history as real events that involved real people, not just dates and statistics on paper. My only complaint is that the textbook is too disorganized.

Only in here cuz it is required. previous ratings although alittle dramatic tend to paint a bleak picture. Believe it! There is a lot of reading, even more library work and you never quite know where you stand with him. Won't be an "A" but I'm not here for gimme's either. There is no doubt he is mentally keeping track of those that try.
