Metrology is an interesting subject. Mr. Ulanski is a super nice professor and really into his subject, which is great. I just hate two questions quizzes, especially T/F. If you actually take an hour or more to study for the tests the material is do-able!

Very kind and knowledgeable, was an easy A, just meant coming to class and putting a little work into studying for tests. Class always got out early too, so that's a plus. You are given all the material you need, and practice, to do well in the class.

GEOL 211 is not too bad with Ulanski but it could be better. Ulanski is helpful but the test he gives out are full of vague and confusing questions, attendance is not counted, and his lectures are nothing but slides of basic pictures which offer no explanation. Its one of those classes where its very easy to get a C, but hard to get anything higher

HE IS THE MAN! Took this as a GenEd and honestly is was one of the most interesting classes I've taken at JMU. He is just a really good guy who understands that its only a 1 credit lab. You go to class he lectures for about half hour then you do an assignment as a class and that's it. tests are based off review sheet. Would strongly recommend

I love Dr. Ulanski! He's always helpful if you ask questions, and if you take notes in class and study, you'll pass the tests with no problem. No textbook for the class which is great for my wallet. Also, he can move through the powerpoints a little quick but they're all on blackboard. Take him!

not clear AT ALL. no text book to guide you. explains things like that "ITS EASY! SEE YOU JUST DO.." when obviously it's not easy which s why you're asking the question. Potential to be the first C of my college career and i'm a senior. So regretful I took this class. So unorganized, quizzes impossible to do well on.

If you want a teacher that is not clear, stand-offish about questions and makes the test impossible to get an A on Stan is your guy. No textbook to reference, tedious in class assignments that don't count towards anything and his powerpoints are so vague. Trick questions on tests and pulls out information from no where.

I had him for GEOL 211 and 350 at the same time and I love him!! He teaches through lecture, which was interesting and easy to follow, and activities that you do in class with his help if you need it. He really wanted to help you learn the material. Take his class if you can!!!

He is a really sweet older man. Really cares about the subject matter, and offers to help anyone who is willing to come to his office hours. 5 grades (tests) which are the only grades in the class and he drops the lowest one. There is no textbook however, so going to class is really important. Take notes and study and its not that bad

He's very knowledgeable about the material, and his lectures are usually fairly interesting. He also acknowledges that most of us are taking this because of the gen ed reqs, & teaches accordingly. However, the lack of a textbook hurts, as do the overly long powerpoints, and his tests are much harder than they should be - though he does curve.

Fly fishing class was awesome! only meets once a week for half a semester. Powerpoints available for lectures. Weekly assignments that are easy, one final that is also very easy. Easy class that is very interesting-great way to fill a lab requirement. Very nice guy too.

He gets really into his teaching and triggerhappy with the powerpoints. some topics are hard to understand and he's not the best at explaining/clarifying things. he often contradicts what he says. 1 question quiz each week, tests are a bit hard and more confusing than the way he explained it during class.

MATH class. Simple as that. You do exercises that involve math basically every class even though it's oceanography. He doesn't explain anything, then hands you a tough math exercise to do. He tries to be easy, but when a teacher does that, they are way too vague and the class ends up being extremely difficult. Such is the case with Ulanski.
