He reads off the slides. His tests are easy, but then he asked his TAs to remark all tests in order to bring down the grade.... basically if the average is 84% he'd get fired... so he asked his TAs to be extra picky. Extremely sensitive to cellphone. Get use to French accent or u will suffer.

He spends lectures reading slides =(, but it’s the only thing that needs improvement. He is VERY helpful, polite and his tests R easy (assuming that you read the book/slides). He would spend a whole weekend answering students’ questions on CCNET be4 the test. I had never seen him being arrogant or rude. Last year he added 17% to every1 on final.

Very rude and unhelpful. He always blames everything (late return of tests, incorrect grades, etc.) on the TAs. Even though the TAs may be inept, as the instructor, it should be his responsibility to keep them in line. Therefore, he is ultimately responsible. He responds to reasonable questions by avoiding answering. He Insults students.

Class was easy, i think because he explained the stuff well. Best eco prof i have had so far (3 yrs) Was very helpful rescheduling a test for me and a buddy when we went to jamaica for the rugby team, giving a test that was comparable in ease w/ the rest of the class when another prof gave us a ridiculous test no where comparable to teh class test.

Mechoulan is an acceptable professor with really easy tests, but he's a bad person. He always comes across as a smug guy, whether it is in class or on his website's bulletin board. He is condescending when responding to questions.

In 3 months I graduate and I can say with absolute certainty that Mechoulan was the worst, most unhelpful & arrogant instructor that I've had in my 4 yrs at UofT. In my year (2 yrs ago) he used to post students' emails on his webpage and made fun of them

his tests were pretty good and fair. the final was just ridiculous (when the average is 40% you know there is something wrong) but it was a common final to all sections. the website was excellent - he put up all the lecture notes and solutions etc..

he is definitely the worst professor i've had. although his tests are supereasy and it may make it worthwile. as a person, he is just a miserable jerk. you can kickass on his tests though.
