Prof. Nelson is so helpful and really cares about everyone. Her discussions are very open-ended with a lot of student participation. You learn so much about the books and even the world although you don't always stay on topic. She really wants deep thinking on essays and you have to work hard. I recommend going to her office hours with papers.

I absolutely adore Prof. Nelson! Although a tad scatter brained, she makes class discussions absolutely enjoyable and is genuinely interested in what you have to say. Allows rewrites with no deadline on all papers, very willing to work with students. Take her class, you won't regret it!!!

Bare in mind, CC 102 is not exactly my cup of tea. However scatterbrained Prof. Nelson is, she is overall very nice and is willing to work with you to improve your writing (allowing rewrites for every paper, extra credit opportunities, etc.). I noticed the grades I got on papers improved significantly after I started going to her office hours.

Great professor! Very approachable. She's always available to meet with you, and very helpful when she does meet with you. She has definitely mastered Latin, and because of this is very helpful for all questions. It's hard to find a question she doesn't know the answer to. If you take Latin, and she's teaching it, take her class.

As people have said, there are so many thoughts going through Professor Nelson's mind at one time that it's kind of hard to truly grasp what she's trying to convey. Half a sentence comes out followed by a different half of a sentence. Also a tough grader, I took CC101 and CC102 and never have I gotten such poor grades on the written assignments.

Disagrees with you w/o even knowing what your arguments are. She does not make any sense, she's an arbitrary grader who gives pity As to students who don't deserve it. If you are an intellectual with a mind of your own, don't take this class. Actually, don't take core. I spent half of the semester arguing my papers and she doesn't remember my name.

Trying to follow Prof. Nelson's thought process is nearly impossible, she so quickly jumps from random idea to random idea, pulling in obscurities that the whole of the class stares blankly at her. She grades papers arbitrarily and on the basis of whether or not she personally agrees with your topic, this is not the class for innovative thinking.

Took 101 & 201 with her. I've had prof. Nelson twice now. I keep trying to get into her sections because she is amazing. Her discussions stimulate the mind and give you great ideas for papers. She's friendly and always available. She won't give you an easy A but she will challenge you. Get her if you can. As long as you're not taking my spot. :)

Professor Nelson is the BEST teacher I have ever had in my life. Not only is she genuinely knowledgeable about her topics but she sincerely cares if you understand. She will go to any lengths to help you no matter how badly you don't understand. I highly recommend taking anything she teaches! I love her!!!

GREAT TEACHER! Absolutely loved her, she was really flexible with any problems I had and has a great assignment schedule that has your last final project be a creative project. She is passionate about what she teacher and was a wonderful teacher. Go to office hours if you need help on a paper.

She has realistic expectations for her students and is not afraid to change the syllabus as the class goes. Since she teaches in the core, can stimulate great discussion topics. Great Professor, open final paper. She grades on creativity and how you use the material learned throughout the year. Nice and always smile. I took her core class, now im taking her greek history class because she's awesome and and makes the class interesting! Highly recommend her. She advised me when my advisor didnt show up to our appointment.
