Comment:
Class attendance is not mandatory although you do have to attend to take good notes. He only goes over experiments and theories in class. He wrote the text himself.. It was hard to pay attention in class because the lectures were super dry. I found that his tests didn't really measure what we learned in class. DON'T TAKE PSY 280 WITH REED!

Class was very boring, all he did was talk about the experiments and theories. Hard to become interested, especially with the way he explained things. A lot of reading involved, I got a B at the end of the semester but it took a lot of reading and mindless lecture notes. His grading is different so its somewhat easy to pass. This class is no joke!

Lecture can be dry, but if you tough them out and attend, take notes, and read the book this class is a cake walk.

You definitely need to read the book. I was always so confused coming out of class because I wouldn't read ahead and all he does is review the book. This deff isn't a breeze of a class. You'll probably like it if you get A's all the time, but for the rest of us, a lot of reading/reviewing is definitely necessary.

This is a very easy class, assuming you have the ability to attend class, take notes, and then study them before exams. Lecture is a list of experiments exemplifying the theories. Tests are applied questions about the theories. I studied `for about 25 hours over the entire semester, got an A+

You need to read the book. His lectures are SLIGHTLY useful because half of his test questions are based off lecture. However, he is quite confusing & doesn't go into detail or explain when you ask a question... The book is interesting though, promise! And yes, you actually do need it!

Must read the book over and over. His lecture will help on a few questions on the test, but it can make the difference on his 30 question test. His class is very time consuming to study for because the book is hard to read. 6 points of extra credit for labs, it makes a big difference. He curves his class, passing will be easy.

Reed knows his stuff and it was helpful that the book for the class was a book that he wrote himself (so it really went along nicely with his lectures) HOWEVER, his lectures are SO boring. He does not make an effort to explain the material in a way that is interesting or easy to comprehend. Def need to study for exams.

Challenging course because the tests are so specific. Definitely need to put in the time for this class. However, the professor knows his stuff and the book follows lecture completely. Study specifics and not just big ideas.

Be careful taking this guy. Hes talking about a book he wrote which is a lot of common sense and big vocabulary to describe it,nothing you can take from class here, discussion the whole time no class engagement and if you do there is nothing to talk about because the class is so boring. I'm a psy major and my far this is the worst class.

If you are going to college to waltz through classes without doing any work, then Dr. Reed is not for you. I enjoyed his classes. Yes, you do need to read the book but he wrote it and is extremely helpful/knowledgeable on the subject. If you don't find the subject interesting, then don't take the course. If you do, then TAKE.

I got 100% on every test, plus extra credit on every test. You have to read people, not just mindlessly gloss over the words. And yes he is boring and a little less than helpful, but guess what that's life. When you finally find your dream job, but think your boss is a little mean are you gonna quit? You have to learn to deal with different people.

WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY 4 YEARS IN COLLEGE. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!! if it is a requirement DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR REED. He is unclear. Does NOT do slides. Is NOT organized in his notes. He just talks about a variety of researches and studies and expects you to remember them all. The exams are way too hard and he does not do study guides:(

His class was ok. His lectures are a bit boring but he stays right on topic with everything you need to know. He wrote the book, so all the lectures are straight out of the book. Purely lecture based. 3 tests, 30pts each, 3 extra credit pts for 1pg assignments. He gives study guides for exams, just follow them and make sure to read the book.

I would not recommend taking this class. Very boring and the teacher is as well. He is very intelligent, but his lectures are not interesting. I think he means well but does not connect with his class. The tests are very hard- three tests 30 questions each. Has extra credit before each test.

He talks in monotone, and says things in a very complicated way. One day he spoke for 30 minutes and a girl in class asked a question that summarized it in 30 sec.The best tip is to take your book to class and go through it as he does in class. This will be the most help. 3 exams. 2 extra pts per exam available. He's nice but boring.

Take good book notes, because his lectures are extremely boring. He is very monotonous, and he WILL make you fall asleep if you are prone to falling asleep in class. Class is out of 90 points, 30 point tests, 3 of them. Not terribly difficult. Extra credit is available too via experiments in class. Curves well, 70 is an A-.

Pretty tough class. A lot of reading. EXTREMELY boring lectures. It's hard to keep your mind straight and it's easy to wander off since he speaks monotoned and at a fast pace. His tests are challenging and I'm currently struggling for a C when I've had A's the majority of the time. Avoid this class if you can.
